Old Trafford (Tickets etc)

It’s a cracking ground. I was there for the South Africa Test last summer. Didn’t drink round the stadium, had a few in Manchester city centre before getting the tram. If you do get the tram be prepared because it gets extremely busy. The queues at the end of the day were mental.

Does anyone have any suggestions for parking? Staying in northern quarter for 3 nights so want to avoid over priced multi storeys

who’s off down then? I’ve got day 1 tickets.

Never been, what’s the best boozers round the ground?

There’s a Wetherspoon’s called the Bishop’s Blaize up towards the football ground if you get there early and want a decent brekkie before play - mind I suspect it’ll be rammed. Not far over the road from there (closer to the cricket ground) is a pub called The Trafford but that’s an absolute dive.

There’s also a cracking pub a bit further of a walk away on Chester Road called the Railway Club. Been some years since I was in there but around the time pints of lager were touching the £3 mark in Durham they were selling their pints for £1.67. Was one of the rare places to allow away fans in for Man Utd home games and was always a really good atmosphere with never any hint of bother. A Smoggy mate said the same about the welcome and atmosphere.

Anyone driving down for one day only from our neck of the woods, park at the Trafford Centre Palazzo (it’s free) and get the tram to Wharfside. From there it’s about a ten minute walk to the cricket ground (passing the football ground) with plenty of pubs, a few off-licenses and takeaways on the way.

Anyone staying over in Manchester, you absolutely MUST go the This and That Cafe on Soap Street for dinner (or early tea) one day it time allows. It’s a little backstreet cafe that is nothing at all to look at but serves tremendous home cooked curries.

Any parking recommendations if you're staying the night in the city centre?

Tried NCP and it shows £56

Car Park A on Charles Street, run by the Uni.

There's cheaper if you're prepared to walk further, but that's the best within 5-10 minutes.
Nice one cheers, will traffic be alright for me driving into there? Will be arriving about 07:30-8am

Going on day 1 with a couple of pals… early train out of Darlo on the Wednesday morning and straight to the ground when we get to Manchester…staying over for the night then train back on the Thursday
