England ODI Squad (match 1-3): Cook Anderson Ballance Bell Bopara Bresnan Buttler Carberry Gurney Jordan Morgan Root Tredwell Woakes

England T20 Squad: Morgan (Capt) Ali Bell Bopara Bresnan Buttler Carberry Gurney Hales Jordan Root Tredwell Woakes

Carberry replaced Lumb it would seem.

Broad out injured and hopes to be back for first test.

So Lumb scores a 100 in his first ODI and ends up being dropped for a 34 year old and Ian Bell in the T20 team

Uninspiring squads, although I have liked the look of Gurney when I have seen him play for Notts.

Me too, he's a proper batsman with a classical technique. He is much more suited to opening in ODI's IMO.

Exactly marra. That's what I'm scratching me head at. It's truly a bizarre decision. He'll be ok at T20 as he can turn his arm over but no where near as effective as in ODI.

My concern is if he's not successful in T20 he'll be discarded. Which would be a shame as I like the look of him.

I've championed him for a couple of years now. He has an excellent technique, times the ball very well and doesn't look to hit it too hard. The last team I would have been looking to pick him for was the T20 side as I think he would be much more suited to playing in a longer format.

Looks like he is guaranteed to play the first test... selector pretty much said "yes" when asked...

Would be a sensible choice to play him and use him as the spin option given that English pitches aren't conducive to spin early in the season, and there's only Panesar who looks close to being test class as the moment.

I thought they might have left him out the ODI squad to play some more LVCC cricket...
