North Yorkshire South Durham league awarded ECB Premier Status - they join 25 other ECB Premier Leagues in England and Wales.

Aim of raising the playing standard of the top tier of club cricket and to bridge the gap between recreational cricket and first class cricket.

Surely a good thing for Durham - more ECB money in the North East and hopefully more players from South of the Region progressing to play at Durham after the likes of Liam Plunkett and Mark Davies.
