I think between Newcastle, Sunderland and even Villa the reasons all three sets of fans dislike Bruce are probably the same. The excuses, the diverting of blame, the way he makes out he's a victim of circumstances and just unlucky. That the fans are wrong. Three big fanbases all united in their dislike of the same manager. The common denominator being Bruce.
Covers himself by playing down clubs potential, uninspiring stuff that there was no excuse for here where he was backed reasonably and Villa where he was backed ridiculously for a championship side. Its like he's happy just to blag his way by for a bit longer than kick on with the club. Whilst that makes him perfect for Ashley, that probably two-fold why he's hated there.

Mike will be happy. Look out for an invoice with an over-inflated transfer fee on it, as a mechanism for extracting funds.

That one is put out there for all those who believe he paid £40m for Joelinton.
Interesting. That the reported & in absence of evidence to contrary the factual fee. Always seemed excessive but as said there still no evidence to say otherwise. You able to provide any?

No evidence just conjecture. On South American transfers it has been known for the agent to be paid (as the mafia would say) “tribute”.

I once took a taxi on work expenses. The fare was £30 the driver offered a receipt for £50 if I paid £40. Same principles.

Of course the best evidence is circumstantial. Question. Under what circumstances would Mike Ashley pay £40m for a footballer. Answer. None.

p.s I declined the taxi driver’s offer.

Agreed.
Some managers come into a club and they realise the potential it has, and want to be the ones to get it to reach its potential, or even just have a go at getting somewhere near. The fans react well to that, and things click. Even if it ultimately goes nowhere it gets fans on board and things take off. Seen it at Newcastle with Keegan and Benitez to a lesser extent, at Sunderland with Reid and Keane. The manager recognising the status of the job he has and what the club means to the support.
Then you get a manager like Bruce who isn't very good, knows he's bluffing, and tries to make out like he's performing heroics in an extremely difficult environment. Makes it like the fans are a hinderance, that the job he's doing is so difficult but he's rolling his sleeves up and bashing away at it... self preservation.

For clubs who are starved of any real success, just having something to believe in and get behind is enough. Bruce is the opposite of that and he sucks away all hope by making out every game is a massively difficult game.
No offence but I hope you lose ASM and Almiron plus Willock doesn’t sign. If that happens Bruce will flounder.
Be great to see Gayle and Carroll leading the line for yous next season with Shelvey pulling the string

Willock won't sign and most likely lose ASM. Almiron might attract interest but not at the fee Ashley would want.

MA must be rubbing his hands - how many people will be betting on Norwich, Swansea/Brentford, Watford to stay up? Also Brighton looking poor and who knows what will happen at Palace. Meanwhile Everton finished two places above with Iwobi (34m) and Gomes (22m) on the bench. He can achieve the same on a minimal spend.

Aye I have changed my mind about him. He's totally mint and definitely world class and that. 12th place. What a time to be alive. Can't wait to circle the drain again next season!!!
The 3rd summer spending spree was the killer for us.

Beware, the worst is yet to come. He’s already blamed the mass hysteria.

Hopefully Willock will want to fight for his place at Arsenal but you will have done well to sign him permanently.

I hope they don’t lose Almiron, he’s dog shit

Was surprised today to find out they eventually finished 12th. Somehow though they claim to be going through extremely challenging times with a shit manager and shit owner.

People on here embarrassed about what happened after our match yesterday with Johnson (and rightly so). But that was nothing compared to the abuse Bruce has had to take all season from them cretins, bedsheets outside sjp after every defeat, cabbages thrown at reception and they even booed him last week at the one and only game fans were allowed in despite getting more points than Rafa and leading them to midtable.
Agreed.

Mad isn't it? Been utter crap most of the season. Could've been 17th had we lost, Brighton drew and Burnley won.
Bit like that season Sunderland got 10th jumping up a few places due to results going right on the last day.
No way have there been 8 worse teams than us this season.

Well you could say that he has been unlucky with Covid and injuries to ASM and Wilson, as soon as those two came back you were fine.

You might be incredulous but the table doesn’t lie. What’s the mags record against top six? 36 points to play for.

Had the 3 that went down not
Made it so easy the pressure would have mounted and they would have been in a relegation fight, they only did well these last weeks because of zero pressure.
😂😂
Whilst I do understand you were probably desperate for us to be relegated the above is bollocks. There was only ever pressure because we were losing. Fulham had a mini revival. Lasted about 3 weeks and WBA got worse with the arrival of Sam ‘never been relegated’ Allardyce. Aside from media hype I am not sure there was ever that much pressure on us. Reading some of the posts on here you could be led to believe if was 3 from 4 and Brighton, Burnley, Southampton & Palace were already safe.
Maybe, or he might have went if fans have been in the ground. But all in all 12th is not a bad effort but I'm not sure how much higher he can take us, and there's unlikely to be 3 worse teams in the league then the 3 that went down last season. Time will tell I guess.
What about the others we finished above?
The 3 relegated teams were poor but we finished above more than them. 12th is a good finish yet there seems to be a lot only saying so through gritted teeth.

Because the 3 that went down were so bad in hindsight that really they were always going to go down. I would imagine that next season it won't be the same, and the other teams that finished below us just never seemed to be on that downward trajectory we were on at one point culminating in the Brighton game. 12 is excellent given how things looked at one point like , seemed really unlikely. Hopefully next season we can be safe a little earlier and aim a few spots higher. Just a small bit of progress would be good to see and I'm sure that's what they'll all be aiming for.

Final update

44 - 45 - 44 - 45

Trending downwards though

Benitez and Bruce absolutely identical records over two seasons each.

So them first two seasons as a newly promoted club the manager has clearly established the team in the premier league on a limited budget , the manager leaves and is replaced by someone who gets to spend the best part of a £100 million on the squad , as you can clearly see no improvement has been made at all from the first season as a newly promoted club to this season despite significant spending from the current manager.

You might want to read the post I quoted rather than now attempt to change the argument.

They truly believe they belong in the elite. "Back along the also rans".

When was the last time they were a runner. Deluded and self entitled. I hope they get relegated next season.
