I donโt think heโs getting sacked this season. In fact Iโd be surprised if he was. Ashley isnโt one to sack managers and just donโt see it happening. Itโs obviously not the right decision to keep him, but Iโd be really surprised if Ashley made a change this late in the season
Hi TravellingMackem, I agree, I don't think he's getting sacked this season. While Ashley isn't one to sack managers, the three that he has sacked provides some context. Allardyce - early in the reign as owner, not his appointment, listened to fans (still drinking with fans at that point).
Hughton - completely out of the blue in terms of results, he done well. Was rumoured in the October, but he went in November. Couldn't control the players apparently. Because he sided with them over a bonus dispute.
McClaren- shite, waited way too late.
No other manager has been sacked despite deserving it. Managerial change in relegation peril in 2009 was when Kinnear had a heart attack, had Hughton as caretaker then Kinnear couldn't come back so Shearer got it.
To fill in blanks, ones not sacked when deserving would be Pardew, caretaker Carver.
Benitez didn't excel, nor did he warrant sacking imo.
