Let's be honest here. If the PiF really wanted to buy Newcastle they could have.

Maybe an interest free loan to a company set up by Staveley and Reuben brothers to get them going. Someone indirectly related to the government on the board. They'd have found a way and the PL would have worked with them to get it through

My understanding is the PiF want a return on investment. Football is an appalling industry to get that return on, and NUFC are an appalling choice within that. They're expensive to begin with, need huge investment on and off the pitch, and even then are a gamble.

The whole thing never made sense. Especially during a pandemic

Tbf I think it was more about the old sportswashing, than a financial return on investment. Considering the average nufc fan is about 2 cryptic PIF tweets from declaring homosexuality a sin and starting a petition to stone rape victims to death, I'd say the sportswashing has worked without buying them.

This. Happened yonks ago. And only cost them £17M deposit without buying it.

Checked out Staveley case online and nothing new from October. I'm guessing they settled out of court for nowhere near what she was claiming
