Alan Smith was on more per week than our entire Club staff that season. So was Geremi. Players, coaches, admin staff, you name it. Our entire budget. And both of them got ran all over by our kids. It was an eye-opener to see so-called 'Premier League quality' lumber around not interested, in the flesh.

Yet you constantly complain about bad owners. You dont know your f***ing born man
We have had a shit owner since 2007. I can’t recall many complaining about our owner when we were regularly in Europe?
They are speshal.
Could be worse we could have such a small time view of ourselves that we stand idly by and do nowt whilst our club gets battered left right and centre by Barnsley, Birmingham Burton etc and sent into the third tier then embarrass ourselves getting all giddy over a checkatrade trophy final and treating it like the fa cup final

A few years? Aye apart from the period from 94 until Ashley arrived in 2007 when we were in Europe nearly every season!

never have been or never will be anything else? I would say beating Barcelona and Juventus in the champions league the highest level of club football says otherwise like. Something you lot will never reach.
We have never been small time enough to play 3rd division and papa johns football either

It was a great giant kill that was hugely embarrassing for them. So where would you put Dundee United who have beaten them twice or Rubin Kazan compared to Newcastle? Man City and Leeds two much larger clubs than Newcastle have also played 3rd division football and the equivalent of the pizza cup - it could happen to NUFC very easily.

How many times do you thick heeds need to be told.

YOU WERE LIVING BEYOND YOUR MEENS.
IF YOU CONTINUED THE WAY YOU WERE YOU WOULD HAVE ENDED UP LIKE LEEDS OR WORSE BURY.

I mean 10 years plus is a long time to be living beyond our means if that’s even true!

I’m sure we had one of the top 20 revenues in the whole of Europe late 90s-early 00s as well as the 3rd highest gates in the country and champions league money we can’t have been doing that bad

Revenue means bot all if you're spending more than what's coming in.

The upshot of which were many drunken city breaks. I am envious of this, of course, but don't pretend it was anything other and you are some kind of European Golliath. Thank goodness you were outclassed by Drogba in the 2004 UEFA cup else we would never hear the end of it.

You can dine out on Barca as long as you want - they finished bottom of the group stage that year, also beaten away at Dinamo Kiev and a draw at PSV. They were back to their best by 2002/03 beating you home and away.

Granted you had a good run from '94 to '07 but now normality has returned and you are back where you belong - obscurity and irrelevance aside from the NE.

Fawning over Brave and Bold Sir John who nearly bankrupted you and Freddie who laughed at you to reporters and called your women dogs? Those great owners. Ashley's a brilliant owner. Spent £100M over the last 18 months, got 1 of your own as Manager and got rid of the greedy shithouse that was Benitez. Give your head a shake man. Thick as mince.

We are where we are. Why not try and win as we are in it. We'll never love the Cup as much as you lot mind I'll give you that. Despite not winning 1 for nearly 70 years. The wheel always turns Bonny Lad...and it will again

In 2007 Ashley inherited this and you lot expected more of the same: A record £34 million loss with an additional £27 million owing on transfer fees; extremely limited borrowing capacity, as all assets and income streams had already been used to secure loans; and a bloated wage bill of ageing mercenaries on generous long-term contracts. Wages 70% of turnover. having a top 15 revenue doesn't count for much if 70% of it is being spent on players and you are churning out a 34 million loss.
The Shepherd family made over £50m from their years at St James’ Park (£38 million Ashley sale, £7 million dividends and £5 million salaries). Additionally, the accounts show that between 2003 and 2007, the club paid £1.6m to rent warehouse space and houses from Bruce Shepherd’s company, SMP Services. In 2007, Newcastle paid £82,000 to Triple S Sports Consultancy, a company run by Freddy Shepherd’s son, Kenny, who rented office space in St James’ Park.

It was built on sand and you have never got or understood this. It doesn't make you a big club spending money that isn't your to spend.

All a reasonable enough response.

Aye I think if it wasn’t for Drogba we could have won the UEFA cup that year although it would have been a big ask v the waiters Valencia side in the final I think it was.

Good info that tbf cheers as I never knew that but I just don’t get if it was that bad when Ashley took over why did he initially spend big and hand out big or long contracts to Smith, Geremi, Viduka, Cacapa etc

if he came in and had to really slash costs then I could agree with your post but he only seemed to turn into a wanker of an owner once Keegan walked as he rightfully wanted no part of their dodgy goings on

Oh aye no sympathy for him. He chose to buy it in the state that it was. If he didn't to due diligence then that's his fault. While allardyce did a good job for us I agree his signings were poor. Ashley put too much trust in him and it backfired.

if it wasn't for having to play another team with a centre forward you might have won ? Cheating bastards !

every team that broke the spending records won the league, Leeds, Blackburn, Man Utd, Chelsea, City... only one failed and you spent massively relative to the others 92-98

Erm the only reason you were in Europe was because of other teams more than yourselves, again you conveniently forget about being in Europe with Ashley and Pardew as well, you mags are good at only zeroing in on points that suit your agenda. I also remember you slagging Sir Bobby off as you only finished 5th or 6th, now you treat him like a hero, pitiful delusional behavior :lol::lol::lol:
