Ah okay, I didnt read the article. I just assumed Jeff was saying that was his opinion too as I thought he always sympathised with that lot

They’ve spun it that way mate. I’m not sure how much of a mag he really is as pools are his team, but as you say, I’ve heard him noshing them off. Then again Sky generally do.
 
I think, as has been written above, the Chronicle have taken that comment and clung to it just to make themselves relevant. Kind of like "they mentioned the takeover on Soccer Saturday, what does this mean for the takeover?!"

Classic example of sportswashing here - would Geordie Chris be spending his days on the internet arguing that the Saudi rulers are nice people if they had never been linked to his football club? Of course he wouldn’t.
