NUFC/Sportwashing

Yeah big move for Rodgers. That would be a statement
Even though I posted HERE about Bruce maybe having a case in staying for now (partially as a wind up for Mags reading), the fact Bruce still hasn't been bulleted after all the talk he would is noticable.

Why would Rodgers want to leave Leicester to possibly go into a club in the media spotlight due to the Saudi human rights/sportwashing thing? Any manager will also be under 'huge' pressure from the Mags and media to do something but it may well end up with them still be relegated. Maybe some managers don't want to be associated with the Mags just yet to it settles down? Will players think the same and not want to be associated with the Mags if the Saudi human rights is still a big issue come January or if they look like relegation fodder? Managers and players can still make millions a season at other clubs now as it's not like the 90's when big money was more attractive in relation to the money players got at the time.

I don't think they'll spend huge amounts, nor will they get big name players that would normally sign for the big 6/big European teams instead. They'll get the cast offs on big wages who are will to overlook the Saudi human rights things simply for the money.

It’s not that, it’s the fact he’s achieved very little and hasn’t been able to sort a good defence out. With Derby he signed a lot of players and went from 6th to 6th and didn’t do too much with Chelsea

I am no real expert on his managerial record and the Prem has passed me by in recent years.

But league winner, 100+ England caps, CL winner suits mags perfectly due to reflective glory. If you read my prior comments I am currently on the fence as to whether it is an investment or sportswashing. If it is Lampard it is sportswashing as all they need is someone to get through to the summer. It suits the mags perfectly due to reflective glory, just like it did with Rafa. If he "gets them" it is a match made in heaven!

We’re not. Even though it IS different as @ned_werby has already eloquently pointed out.

fact is, you’re glorifying a murderous regime. You’re complicit in their blatant attempt to get the PR wagon rolling and your(not yours personally I’ll add as you’ve been more honest than most) answer is “you’re jealous” or “everyone else is doing it”.

neither of which is forgivable or remotely acceptable. It’s spitting on the graves of innocent children, journalists with a different opinion, LGBT’s who aren’t allowed to be themselves. It’s ever single atrocious thing imaginable.

all to say “we won something”.
It’s pathetic. It’s despicable and it is utterly disgusting.
This has been covered a lot over the past few days and I've been clear and honest as I can. The fanbase as a whole doesn't need to be complicit, our club has been bought, but they don't own us.

Athletic did a survey and the overwhelming majority are concerned* about the KSA's human rights violations. A significant minority say it would make them unwilling to go to the ground, c20% if I remember correctly.

I don't think it's as black and white as you're making out. If the majority of fans are conflicted about the takeover, sweeping generalisations don't help anyone. Anytime someone says "You're complicit", it'll be taken as a direct attack on the person and the defences come up. Subtle changes of wording would get way more rational and reasoned conversations about the whole thing.

Do they need to? They’ve had plenty to say about the ESL. Taking the knee etc. Are they going to remain silent about this?
I’ve no idea. But they should be leapt upon if they have banged on about SA related stuff previously. If they’ve droned on about PL club ownership in the past then their cowards if they don’t now. If they haven’t bothered us with their opinions on either issues in the past then expecting them too now is like waiting for their opinions on a zillion other subjects.
