Yep find this a bit weird. She doesnt really know what shes doing I suppose until she has some sporting advisors appointed.. although saying that Charnley is still there for a bit isnt he?

There have been no filings for Newcastle United Ltd (the holding company for the club and other subsidiaries) since the takeover was announced. Charnley is the only disclosed director. I'd also question his ability as a sporting advisor.

That's the bit of the fans' reaction to this that embarrasses me. Some of it is misguided excitement, some of it is ignorant, none of it palatable to me.

We can celebrate the club leaving Ashley consigned to the history books, we can celebrate what the money means for the club and what the stated ambitions are. But there's absolutely no need to lower ourselves to being complicit in Sportswashing.

In reality we should use the new found wealth and attention to have conversations about what's going on in Saudi Arabia, the Trust should encourage groups to have dialogue with the fans about their wholly legitimate concerns. The flag groups should make f***ing certain the rainbow flags are big, bold and front and centre. If Amnesty International wants to protest the owners outside the ground we should respect it, (but I'm certain a depressingly noticeable number will heckle them).

We've had no real say in who buys the club, but we have a say in how we behave from here on in.
But you won’t. You’ll celebrate the signings. You’ll celebrate the wins. The media will post the important things like how much you’re willing to pay some foreign mercenary, e.g. Neymar, to pretend they give a damn.

Sportrinse and repeat.

It’s an awful comparison but it’s being trotted out left right and centre by desperate mags

It’s almost as if they can’t see the difference between an investment portfolio and a blatant sportswashing operation
They can. Absolutely. The ones with even a basic education can see right through it. They are trying and failing to square it with themselves. They know the nature of the beast they invited in, and from whose tit they are now eagerly suckling. They just don’t care.

Did you join in with the protest to get rid of the evil Ashley?

Many fans refused to enter the stadium while he was there, others continued to turn up but gave Ashley abuse every game, which is fair enough as they believed him to be a despicable character. Many of the same people will now return and get behind the new owners and the team that their blood money provides, this simply makes a mockery of all protests carried out over the years.

I'll put it this way, I haven't had one educated response this morning on here.

What I'm asking is how do you honestly think the majority of you're clubs fans would of reacted, if they'd just been taking over by the same owners?

I'll say it again and again, the overwhelming majority would be ecstatic. To say otherwise is shear lies.

Here's an educated response.
Get fucked.

That's the sad thing though. Everyone knows what your new owners are what they stand for. If the fans had showed some sort of reticence and reservations about them, fair enough. But the fact they were all out celebrating and dancing in the streets as if they'd won a trophy was truly sickening. Bookmark those images on Thursday because I have a feeling that they'll come back to haunt them.

well i’m not lying when i say i’d walk away if it was us. I certainly wouldn’t be at the stadium with a f***ing tea towel on my head dancing & singing or trying to defend / justify them

You are likely right but I don't think we, as a fan base, would have embarrassed ourselves on social media, wore tea towels. I also think that the 97%/3% split would be much closer to 50%:50%. But then again, we would have been happy with an owner who ran the club prudently. In fact, he would have likely invested more if he owned us as we wouldn't have vilified him and demand to be where we were in the 1900's.

Whataboutery at it's finest, let's take an untestable case and use it as a smokescreen. They HAVE bought you and your fans reactions are there for the world to see. The only thing that can be actually compared are the videos of your fans begging them to buy you previously - can you hoy up some videos of Sunderland fans begging to be taken over by these human rights atrocity overlords??
