Ashley owns NUFC: "f***ing wanker. 0 hour contracts that's f***ing disgraceful. Let's boycott the games and throw shit onto pitches etc.. I'm not going back whilst he is there like he is disgusting

PIF owns NUFC: "Wey, nowt we can do about the owners is there. I'll just carry on going and supporting the team I love."

Like him or loathe him Mike Ashley will be the happiest man in the UK today . Probably looking for a new London club to buy right now.

But this applies to all clubs and owners.

If an owner is worth £10 billion and buys a football club, he still has his other investments and assets to consider. The £10 billion isn't focused purely on the football club. Why would it be?
There's no doubt your barbaric murderous bone saw new owners will spend hundreds of millions over the next few seasons they haven't come here to make up the numbers imo

I can, hand on heart, say I’m glad it isn’t us. You aren’t likely to find too many football owners without their share of murky dealings to one degree or another. Being owned by the state of Saudi Arabia, however, as a tool for their sports washing enterprise would probably see me lose all interest.

I know the majority of them won’t care, they are who they are. It’s pretty bleak if you think about it however and if there’s any justice it will blow up in their face. I remember when Ashley was going to win the PL for them.

SA doesn’t “hate the West”, they’re trading partners and de facto allies in the region for the US and the UK. Which is precisely why shit like this is allowed to happen.
Aye. But we know they still hate the west.

Money/arms does strange things to folk.

Meh. The PIF is so colossal that it renders the point moot. The fact is, the scum are now financially in a an extraordinarily strong position, regardless of the murkiness of it's source.
They will be spending an absolute colossal amount of money over the next few seasons I'm afraid any Sunderland fan who hopes or thinks different are going to be disappointed but the constant shit storm that is going to come with it won't be worth it

I'm more of excited about our new owners and the path we're taking going forward

A naïve view, I suspect. I work (at least for another six weeks anyway) with the Saudis currently and scrape a thin veneer off the surface and their obvious dislike / distrust / contempt for 'the West' is pretty clear to see. Money is money however and those cultures driven by its acquisition are usually cold enough to be able to work with anyone to generate more and protect their own.

One thing that gets me about this is the thought of the world on them. Well what about the thought of their own country on them.

After all you stick with their laws or are imprisoned, tortured and put to death. Now they will have signs promoting gay awareness amongst other stuff.

Bit confusing for the folk in SA when their leader promotes such things.

Rock and a hard place.

Newcastle fans think that every penny of the PIF vast wealth will be spent on them. The reality is that it is a small bit visible pasty of their investment strategy. They will spend and spend big but unless the sport washing works and they are regarded as thoroughly decent chaps by the wider world NUFC will be expected to add to the PIF and not be allowed to be a drain without any reflected benefits in terms of PR.

But in reality I don’t care, I’m not concerned. Man Utd have spent billions since their last trophy and were in a far better place than the Mags.

Money removes barriers and provided opportunities, it does not guarantee success!

Financially strong yes. Whether they intend to spunk millions to attempt to reach the CL is another story
Aye, with an outcome as obvious as any cheap novel. They're not in this for a public relations exercise.

Do NUFC have a lasses football team? Wouldn't want to be in their squad if they lose a few. I'd imagine the new owners sanctions will be severe!

To be fair enough, they're that loaded that even if just 1% was earmarked for the football club that would likely be enough to be safely in the top 4. Hopefully they'll not be able to get around ffp (I'm sure they will though) and will spend money badly, but it's definitely a concern. Mind, it'll make it more fun when we get back to the PL and beat the fuckers again

Agreed. As has been said on this thread... I’m glad it isn’t us.
