The Daily Telegraph understands there remains fierce appetite amongst the Saudi backers to buy into English top tier football - but there are lingering concerns around the £300 million price-tag previously demanded by Newcastle.

Strange that they’re squeamish about paying what is already a knockdown price. If it does go ahead it won’t be anything like what the fans are hoping for.

If that still looks likely in January they'll spend money to try and prevent that happening I reckon.

Aye but their team is gash imo and needs extensive spending. Not sure they can fix all their problems in one window. Bit risky taking over at this time iyam.

Pretty sure KLD hasn't been involved in mass breaches of human rights and state sanctioned murder so L1 with potential to grow and a clear conscience over selling our souls any day.

Give over. We’re part owned by wankers that stripped the club back man

Mags getting a takeover of a lifetime let’s not pretend otherwise.

especially if they are also paying 1bn to clear the piracy just so they can buy them. whats a few million more?

However, the main issue obstacle to the takeover being resurrected remains the separation between the Saudi state (KSA) and the Public Investment Fund, its sovereign wealth fund. The Premier League and Newcastle , which is set to start on January 3.
Premier League QC Adam Lewis said at the CAT hearing: “If the arbitration decides KSA is not a director, then the transaction can and will go ahead, with no question of the Owners’ and Directors’ Test being applied to KSA.”

This is the thing. PIF is ran by the Saudi Royal Family, nobody can state otherwise but it'll go through because the issue was TV rights and not the horrendous human rights record.

Good luck to them.

The days of your Abramovich and Mansour takeovers are long gone.

They might get a facelift at SJP and a new training ground, but the idea of hundreds of millions spent on players is laughable.

As some one who lives on the outskirts of Newcastle I can’t wait for the investment they’re going to make in our region.

I would love to know how the premier league will spin this when it goes through

I just can't see how they can pass the fit and proper owners test.
They will because money talks but it's a disgrace.

I would be saying the same if it was us being bought by them
