Or "almost getting money" in this case.

I'd like to think if it had been us, it wouldn't have driven our fans the same way. That said, the Sunderland fan mentality is very different. We'd have been expecting it to fall through, or be fake news from day one.

And maybe.... if the PiF had really wanted to buy the club... thats what they would have done.

That's the biggest mystery to me. There must have been ways around this if Saudi wanted it that bad. They will have good legal teams, and money to make this happen.

The second biggest mystery is why the only people to kick off about it is a potential minority shareholder and the selling party. PiF said next to nothing, made no noise about it at all. It was like they weren't even involved.
They seem to think the Saudis want it just as much as they do, which clearly isnt the case

Exactly. PIF are investing billions in hundreds of companies Newcastle was just one of those. It’s like putting 150 bets on Skybet on a Saturday you’re not bothered if one loses if plenty of others are successful.

One of the best things about this is watching them fight amongst themselves 🤣🤣🤣🤣

As I have repeated for days Steve, I believe the club is in its final death throes. I would'nt even rule out administration at some point in the not too distant future. The horrible and spiteful excuse of an owner we have had to endure for the past 15 years has nearly accomplished what he set out to do from the beginning.
I wish nothing but the worst for him

What utter nonsense, the club is financially stable has a very low debt base and in a normal season a low salaries to income ratio.
It only has one major creditor and that’s MA.""

What I don't get is if the PL are so corrupt surely they'd have taken the Suadi blood money.
Said this to a Mag colleague a little while ago and was met be a torrent of wild spewing nonsence for about 10 minutes that ended with being told that as a Mackem i just accepted failure and they didnt, told him i was now walking away like the saudis did 😁

I'll save you from having to click the link with this quote....

The Mexican businessman who once held an interest in buying Newcastle United has wished the club's new signing, Santiago Munoz, well after the 19-year-old left Santos Laguna.

Alejandro Irarragorri, is the chair of Santos through his company Group Orlegi

so the chairman of a club, wishes his own player all the best for the future... and the Chronicle immediately makes a headline as if its a takeover story.

they must be dreading this saga ever ending. It fills website space like nothing else

It's fun watching them wail like fannies. In a way I don't want this to end ( and for some of them it wont) but I also wish the PL would just say look they've nicked our product for years and we don't want the murdering bastards infiltrating our country never mind our football.

I'm surprised they've not used the 'distance card' yet - nearly 300 miles from London and feeling lonely and unloved; meaning and the PL should relocate to the north-east with their headquarters prominently located in the Bigg Market and staffed with 'neutrals' that live in the city...

Don't kid yourself, the PL would fall over themselves to welcome the Saudis if the Saudis hadn't been stealing their product. They'd happily get in bed with a murderous regime if one of their preferred media partners wasn't in a geopolitical fistfight with them. That's why the takeover didn't go through.

I don't believe the elite clubs wanted another staggeringly wealthy club in the Premier League, further diluting their power within it and threatening their places in the Champions League.
But I've no reason to believe those clubs have pressured the PL to delay/block the process, I'm not sure they'd need to as the issues are about piracy and controlling persons.
Has someone hacked your account? All of that makes perfect sense and is basically what most people on here have been saying for ages now.

I believe amnesty international have more power than you think.

The Premier League is a brand. There's enough distance between Abramovich, Emirates et al and their questionable practices for plausible deniability. There isn't in this case. The theft of their product certainly doesn't help.

Roughly been my position for ages, I had used to think that the route to resolution was easier, but it wasn't. I underestimated how incompetent Ashley and Staveley are.

I don't think Amnesty International could persuade the PL to change their socks.

But the government would. Dont believe a word Boris says. On no terms will that regime get a foothold. The outcry would be enormous.

Another will buy him out. Just go with that.

I think if the Saudis hadn't brazenly halfinched their stuff, the PIF and Rubens and PCP consortium would have been sufficient distance from the Saudis regime, but I doubt we'll agree on that.

I don't believe much Johnson says, but I think he and his crew are quite happy to get into bed with the Saudis.

Ashley will get approached by other buyers and I hope he sells to someone with a bit of ambition and a decent plan for the future, I really do. Said before, but that Orlegi group who own Santos were keen, reportedly. They certainly sound like the right kind of investor; Focus on the academy and getting the best out of players through good coaching and good facilities. Knowing our luck they'd be a front for the Medellin cartel, mind you.
