Regarding the investment in F1 I'm honestly not sure, hadn't heard about it. Its just part of the PIF strategy I guess, but I'm assuming ownership or investment rules are different in different sports.

My interest in it all was so minimal, and now even more so, I have always seen it for what I think it was ever since it all fell through, a distraction technique and smokescreen for a lack of investment where it matters.

As I say, my concern is for the season ahead.
So is mine the main one is you don't get relegated๐Ÿ˜Ž

Same as Staveley's. The loan from Fat Mike was to PCP, not Staveley herself.

So what would Stavely be getting out of it, why is she still interested. Is it commission on any sale as the broker/go-between or is it because she is actually a fan and wants a change of ownership? I guess I'm surprised it's still being discussed, I know the fans won't let it die, but you generally find there's no smoke without fire. Does Ashley still think a deal can be done?

McLaren Group ownership was:

Mumtalakat Holding Company 56.4%, TAG Group Limited (Mansour Ojjeh) 14.32%, Nidala (BVI) Limited (Michael Latifi) 9.84%, Favorita Limited 5.78%, Perlman Investments Limited 5.77%, McKal Holdings Ltd 5.24%, Acanitt Limited 2.65%.

Mumtalakat are the Bahranian Sovereign Wealth Fund (equivalent of PIF), Ojjeh is French-Saudi!

- Bein doesn't have the rights to show it (from what I can gather) else the piracy issue would re-emerge;
- PIF will not be majority shareholder;
- there is a KSA grand prix scheduled for December this year.

Chalk and Cheese but daft mags don't see it.

Fat Mike loaned her the deposit he wanted for the deal. It's non-refundable, and secured on PCP. If the deal doesn't go through, she's on the hook to repay the loan unless the Saudis or the Reuben's bail out. Ashley wants to deal to go through because he wants out and PIF are the only show in town at the moment. Staveley needs the deal to go through or her company is likely to end up in the knacker's yard.

So far as I know, there's not an owner and director test in F1 either. There's really no comparison.

Sheโ€™s still interested as long as sheโ€™s popular. They love her man. Itโ€™s a bit offputting to be honest.
If this wasnโ€™t the Saudis do you honestly think theyโ€™d be trips to London to protest or transparency becoming their new favourite word?

@Grumpy Old Man explained the financial importance, but don't underestimate the importance of this to her own brand.

I've thought since this all started that a lot of this has to do with Staveley positioning herself as this global dealmaker who can open doors to royalty in the Middle East. From the moment this story broke, it was more important that everyone knew the Saudis were directly involved (with Staveley as the link) than it was to put together a deal that would have satisfied the PL.

Even now, there seems to be a concerted effort to further antagonise the PL. I actually think it suits her to have people think that the Saudis were (and still are) willing to come to the table, but the nasty PL blocked them. I'd be very interested to see how things shook out if they did call her bluff and waved the takeover through.
