For such an average manager, he attracts a cult-like devotion.
He was brought in originally to keep Newcastle up and failed and always managers to persuade the fans that he is doing a better job than he is.
He's won La Liga twice, Champions League, Uefa Cup, Europa League, Super Cup, FA Cup, Italian Cup and EFL Championship as well as picking up UEFA manager of the year twice and LMA Special merit award.
To say he's "an average manager" is just silly and rather funny seeing as your username is the same name as one of the most overrated managers ever :D

I will rephrase that then ;).
He has won trophies but not consistently and his best years seemed to have been at Valencia. If he was English his style of football would not get a second look.

has he got any relegations in his cv ?

Officially yes, hence the EFL Championship on his CV
BTW, having a relegation on your CV doesn't mean you're a bad manager.
Arsene Wenger, Jurgen Klopp and Antonio Conte are 3 better than average managers who have a relegation on their CV.

You're right, it doesn't make sense when you look at it in a simple way.
Bruce got Sunderland 10th, 3rd highest league finish in 80 odd years. Yet Sunderland fans weren't happy with him. If you look at it as simply as he got 10th yet they didn't want him, then it looks daft that the fans didn't want him. But I know the story and understand the reasons.
Pardew got a 5th place finish, but he was wanted out for the 2 and a bit years following that. There's way more to both the Bruce at Sunderland and Pardew at Newcastle story than simply "5th = good, fans = bad".

Was only £20m mate
Yeah, context is everything isn’t it. like saying he only spent 20m, ignoring the fact the squad had just had 100m spent on it and was full of expensive assets that could be sold, some of the money reinvested and some kept for later. Other than maybe villa it was the most expensive squad in the league iirc.

Think you've got a bit excited there, because in your eagerness to reply you've missed the part in my next post that I've pointed out that I'm aware it was around £55m spent.

He took a team down whose midfield 2 were competing a champions league final not long after (Wijnaldum and Sissoko).

You didn't need to add the EFL championship man 😂. Most of those he won over a decade ago. He seems to have lost his mojo a bit like Mourinho though the latter still gets huge jobs. Can't see him winning much for the rest of his career. He'll pack it in the next five years or try for the Spain job.

I'm surprised at this if it happens. Thought Everton could have attracted maybe a more youthful manager or someone higher profile, like a Pochettino. I think Rafa will have them around 6-8th maybe and defs top half, but Everton I don't doubt have aspirations beyond that.
