Here I know of a lad who might be interested in a Mag takeover. He's just had a recent disappointment business wise. He's got the blue chip backers already and knows the region well. The more I think on he would be the perfect fit for them.

Is it the same guy with extensive experience of the sports industry from a previous association with Formula 1? I reckon he'd be perfect for them. Exactly the same grasp on reality as the supporters

The Chronicle's latest corker about the massive club up the road. Some of them will actually believe this as well:

Sir Alex Ferguson 'considered' leaving Manchester United for Newcastle due to the fans
Speaking on latest episode of Gibbo's Corner - John Gibson reveals that Sir Alex Ferguson very nearly became Newcastle manager

Sir Alex Ferguson was a manager every football fan but those favouring the red of Manchester loved to hate.

His success and knack of winding people up made him unpopular with so many - with the underlying reason no doubt the jealousy of watching Man United lift so many trophies.

With it was no different - their dislike for the Scotsman heightened after the famous Kevin Keegan 'I would love it rant!' provoked by the masterful mind games on Sir Alex in the 1995-96 season.

Funnily enough months later, it's claimed he was on the verge of joining after Kevin Keegan walked away from his post.

John Gibson, who has covered Newcastle United for the last 60 years, recalls the 'sliding doors moment' on the latest episode of The Everything is Black and White Podcast.

Discussing Newcastle's 4-3 defeat to Manchester United on Boxing Day 2012, and the 'wee club' comment made by Ferguson, Gibbo said: "He loved winding people up like that - a bit like Jose Mourinho does now.

"Privately, he had huge respect for Newcastle United, and mainly for the fans.

"At the time when we had the Sir John Hall and Freddy Shepherd combo running Newcastle United, Ferguson was approached privately about coming to Newcastle United.

"He did consider it because of the fan base.

 f***ing hell that's immense!
" privately" .. "he did consider it" - unprovable nonsense. Even if it's true he obviously decided against it. Embarrassing story. No doubt they'll stick a statue of him outside their ground next commemorating his "consider it" moment

😂 that’s the biggest load of horseshit I’ve ever read. Not a chance he would have given leaving Man Utd for NUFC even a moments thought
