Not Rohl

Still has been linked with West Ham today.

Is there a vacancy like?

Hate the bastard with a passion, but another solid if not canny season from Moyes.

Those porno brothers are unusually trigger-shy owners too. Tend to back people and prefer stability. Can’t see it happening at all.

He was linked with them a while back. The PL at a club the size of WHU with their infullfilled potential and new growth may be a bit much for him at his age and inexperience.
I think he’d best take a championship job without the pressure to get promoted immediately. SAFC atm may be the only club of a similar size to ever be in this division without the intense pressure to get promoted that normal setups have.

Of course he’ll go to WHU though.

Exactly. Nothing more stable than that.

I’m sure he’s said he’s leaving at the end of the season so he will be. If he hasn’t then no but positive I seen it somewhere.
I dont think hes definitely leaving but the compo needed to get him comes down apparently. Read it on here anyway

If he wasn't a foreign young coach nobody would want him here with his record. Should be aiming higher than both Rohl and Heckingbottom
I don't know why we haven't offered someone like Cooper the job. Ticks all the boxes and is out of work which means no compo.

Show some bloody ambition man.

Which other football club writes off half the season with a caretaker in charge, who we know won't be appointed? Smacks of total incompetence at board level.

Defo between this fella and Will Still, depends on finances though and KLD has not quite made his mind up.

So I heard I did, from someone very close to KLD, after the match on Saturday in Quinn's bar.

That is all, just passing on what I heard. Over and out.

I'd imagine the fact Struber is now available maybe changes things slightly.

I reckon rohl would cost less than still

moyes contract is up ina few weeks not signed another one...
David Gold doed a qwhile ago..sullivan is still there but there are other owners as well as around 25 per cent of the club being for sale..

Should be going all out for Cooper imo.

Knows and has been successful in the Championship, with two clubs (got Swansea and Forest to the playoff finals, with the latter going up).
Knows English football.
Has coached young players (for England).
Has worked in a system where he has to just get on with signings made for him.

Plus he's out of work! Happy days!

West Ham fans want Moyes out. It’s got the smell of a club wanting more that’ll just inevitably fall on its face. I don’t like Moyes but he’s done a good job there and 8th this year would be a good year for them.

Yeah Cooper's my choice too. Now whether he wants a job or wants this job is another question.

I'd be relatively happy with any of Rohl, Still, or Cooper. Or at least I could see the logic to any of them. Just don't want it to be Heckingbotham, he's got a promotion on his CV, but I was never too impressed with his Sheffield United side.

My slight reservation over Rohl is he will have worked at Sheff Wed with ZERO expectation. Nobody realistically expected them to stay up. Has done a brilliant job mind.

I dont know, I find it a bit depressing we are debating which foreign manager with almost no experience we should hire for Sunderland. Which one is the least of a huge gamble.

However, if we are going down this route I'd say that Rohl has excellent pedigree as an assistant and has done well at Shef Wed. But no experience of promotion in the Championship.

Still has a touch more experience and in a top league but in France. Does that matter these days, I have no idea. Our owners would probly like him to bring some French 20 years olds for next to nowt with him.

Cooper is most definitely the one we should be going for. British so just gets it here, experienced in the Championship - with success as well. Coached England younguns at u21. He is without doubt the best for Sunderland. Until money comes into it that is.

Like a phone contract we will go for whoever is the cheapest up front fee + monthly fee combined package.

Edit - I forgot about Heckingbottom. I'm sure the same financial thinking will apply to him as well.

He's only been in the championship for 6month, it's not like he really knows the division at all. Sheff wed took a chance on someone with no history of managing/being a Head coach. He wouldn't have even come into people equation previously. Still may struggle, he may strive, he may be similar. But there's more evidence to him being a better option than rohl imo.

I'd take Still over Rohl by a fair margin. Experience of managing in a top division, has his team on the fringes of European qualification and widely regarded to be one of the hottest young managerial prospects in Europe. Rohl may end up having a very decent managerial career but I'd have Still a considerable distance ahead of him currently.
