For many years, I agreed. However, the club knocked the freebies on the head some time ago and have been upping prices over time. Individual match prices are by no means the cheapest anymore (not saying they should be btw) and ditto season tickets. For many years in the PL they were ridiculously low, but the shite served up dictated that.

Yes, agree. One of the few good things Donald did was put the 'free' tickets to bed or so I was told? Technically they weren't free, I understand, as tied to corporate sponsorship deals but nevertheless took them away, whatever the exact number was. Match day prices are going up. 32 to 36 quid now, which is what I pay. I think that's fair enough.

Yeah, it’s ok. The gate receipts must be well up from years ago tbh. The way the club is run still suggests we have money issues though!

Aye this.

At the time it was definitely the right decision. We have literally never been as good since then and have spent a chunk of the time actually being famous for being spectacularly shit. 15 points and 19 points were both records at the time. We’ve recently finished lower than we ever have in our history. So aye now it is probably too much and 42k would have been fine.. hindsight is a wonderful thing. But bar a handful of clubs in the country nobody can match our support given how utterly dogshit we are

I often do a 'what if", ie we sack Reid immediately at or before end of 0102 season and get a better manager in who doesn't waste millions. The 19 and 15 point seasons never happened. We could have continued with stability and without the damage that caused to supporter base and club. Would have been full a lot more.

I often wonder what if we stuck it out with Reid in 02/03. No way we go down on 19 points imo.

We had 8 points after 9 games, which equates to around 33 points over the season. We’d have needed 45 to stay up, which was exceptionally high that year (we’d have needed to up it to around 1.28 points a a game on average), but we’d at least have had more of a shout under Reidy than Wilko.

I remember after we stayed up on the last day with a drab 1-1 Draw at home to Derby in 2002 in front of sell out crowd of 47,989 (Season Average 46,745) we lost 10,000 supporters that summer with first home game of the 2002/03 season vs Everton only getting a crowd of 37,698 as we plummeted to the Championship. Crowds never really recovered even when back in the Premier League as thousands of freebies were being handed to schools to top crowds up over 40k apparently 🤔. Now though i believe we are well on track to filling the Stadium every game in the near future 🤞

Wasn't so much the shite, more that football wasn't as popular.

I remember us leading against Leeds on Boxing Day. A win would have taken us out of the bottom three.
