No atmosphere today

According to Channel 5 commentators. Saying it was very subdued and that the layout of the ground had areas with hardly any spectators, lending it an almost county ground feel. I must admit it came across on live Sky coverage as been a bit quieter than I thought it would have been.

Completely disagree as the atmosphere was fantastic. Didn't get the bit about the sparse sections of seating either :-?

Was it that Nicholas who was on about it? No doubt he'd be approving of all Tests being in the South.

If Durham has no atmosphere then Lords is like a morgue.

Fuck them. Besides the lads on TMS had nothing but good things to say about CLS all day.

If the had picked Bunny there probably would've been a different feel too. That certainly deflated me this morning when I knew he wasn't playing.

I find it difficult to support England without any Durham lads in the team so would agree with this.

I thought that the atmosphere was really good, particularly in the afternoon when a few more beers had been consumed. Wish the Trumpeter had played a bit more!!

I'm in with the Aussies tomorrow in the County Durham Stand. Looking forward to it.

Gotta be honest....atmosphere came over shite on the tv coverage today....Will report back after Ive been the morra

The Barmy Army weren't as mad as they usually were. They couldn't even get the obligatory Mexican Wave going.

I think the poor cricket had more to do with the crowd being subdued. The Aussie fans I talked too thought this ground was great.

It was lively enough in the north east terrace considering the pretty flat batting performance.

And the Yorkshire men sat near me said Chester le street is better than headingley for watching cricket.

That's possibly because they weren't surrounded by their brethren.

I think the reason for the poor atmosphere is down to the local plod and stewards. I've noticed in previous internationals that any flags with football related writing on them get taken down. I can only assume its to prevent trouble between us and the vermin.

I think its down to what happens on the pitch personally.

Our batting wasn't great and the outfield seemed slow meaning boundaries were hard to come by.

It picked up when KP came on and later in the afternoon it was lively enough around me.

Have to say the stewards were a bit heavy handed. If you had a seat close to the players steps you couldn't go the back way as many do for Durham games. Had to go the long way round.

You couldn't even stand at the back and watch a few balls as they were straight on to you to find a seat.

Why football-related stuff at a cricket match though ?

It is lovely no doubt. But fuck me its boring and nee atmosphere at all.

Indeed. I thought I was back at the football at times yesterday.
