Erm pretty sure there has been.

It looked busy at Durham this weekend with the students going home, good job it wasn't next week although Newcastle finish next week

How is it any different to normal busy times?

You board the train, if you have a reserved seat you sit in it (having told whoever is sitting there to move). If you don't have a reserved seat you take your chances. Simple really.
Too much logic in that for it to work

Posted elsewhere - I spoke to the Station Manager at Newcastle on Friday. She said there are no special provisions, but as it's going to be busy people are advised to get there early
Those of us who have reserved seats are all worried that the sheer volume of people travelling means that people will just sit anywhere, but hopefully people dont take the piss, especially when there are people travelling with kids

Quite a bit tbh mate. Open tickets have been heavily oversold, so in theory lots of extra passengers could turn up for each service. If that is the case, and the train is packed, you wont be able to get near your seat, nevermind sit in it.

That would be impossible to police and end up with the trains being stupidly late getting into the cross.
Every single ticket would have to be checked for people boarding, there just aren't enough staff or time to do that.

Seat reservations can also be cancelled if the service is too busy.
