Niki Lauda RIP

He would have died in the Nurburgring crash if it weren't for other drivers stopping and getting him out. There were no stewards close to where he crashed. He was given the last rites but only missed two races, and could have possibly even won the title that year if he wasn't forced to retire in Japan with the torrential rain hitting his burns and blinding him.

He reformed the drivers' trade union in the week following the deaths of Senna and Ratzenburger to demand better safety.

RIP, bona fide legend.

A brave man whose great contribution to motorsport will always be remembered.
