Nightmare Scenario

Please someone work this out

If Chelsea do not win tonight and we draw on Sunday.

Liverpool win

Mags win could put them ahead of us and in Europe!

FFS

Forget about other results, how Chelsea do tonight, how other sides get on.

We need a win on Sunday, nothing else matters other than that. If we win and we make it, amazing! If we don’t we’ll have finished 9th on 54 points! How incredible is that for first season back.

Gonna be a brilliant atmosphere and a fascinating final day. I'm sure we'll be up for it and will very likely turn Chelsea over then we'll just have to see.

Errrrr no.

I don't think there's a nightmare scenario really.

Conference league is an awful result for them after spending the guts of a billion quid. They have a complete rebuild ahead of them, and no UCL football to offer their few good players. Finishing above us means nothing really after the two derby losses. This season has been an absolute disaster for them, and it's likely to get worse as the agents start sticking the knife in.

Meanwhile, every one of us would have taken 12th place and back-to-back derby wins at the start of the season. At worst, we'll finish 11 points head of our ambitious target.

Ending this season any higher than 12th would be the cherry on top of the cherry on top of the cake for us, but we should all reflect on a great season no matter what happens in the remaining games.

Definitely a strong chance Newcastle finish above us, yes

People need to get over this.

We've far exceeded any and all expectations and have beaten them twice.

There's no Sunderland fan on earth who wouldn't have taken that prior to a ball being kicked.

You can already see people being wound up over it potentially happening and I hope they won't try and spoil what has been an amazing season, if it happens.

Considering the difference in funds and spending of the teams over the past 3 years or so, even if they manage to finish ahead of us by 1 point or on goal difference - it’s a poor showing from them.

They’ve been convinced for years that they will dominate us, and yet we’re both on an even footing.
