He played for us as a striker, played in goal when needed for us, Got a load of lads to invest in us in our hour of need, managed us, became chairman, got another rich bloke to invest in us........and someone thinks his love lies more with Man City, because of how he co commentated on one of their games?:eek::eek::eek:

I hope you twated the maggie bastard!

A club legend who loves Sunderland or a man whose love lies with Man City

*I had this conversation with another Sunderland fan yesterday and was amazed with his answer

It doesn't matter.

I think he can like 2 football clubs if he likes without us being the jaded mistress wiping tears of rage away with a pair of his socks.

He learned his trade at Arsenal.
Became a footballer at Manchester City.
But Sunderland got under his skin.
He loves Sunderland.

Was at a wedding at the SOL last friday and noticed that the sports bar had be re-named 'quinneys' they had the quote above in massive writing outside of the bar as we walked past....... Shut all the mags up that I had been arguing with earlier about said subject

Not sure the bit in bold was a positive

It's only natural for a player to have some affection for all of his former clubs, most will have one they prefer over the others and I believe Quinny's is us. I believe that's what his quote means and therefore, regardless of his love for us, he wants his other clubs to do well.

Mickey Gray has tweeted in the past saying he wants Blackburn/Celtic/Sheff Wed to win various games, but it doesn't mean he cares more about them than he does us!

I think Quinny is full of Irish blarney and would be a good commentator for all the clubs he has been connected with. He could have taken his Irish consortium to City and didn't so I would say he prefers us over them.

Broke my heart when i heard him say 'we' when commentating on their game , felt like i had been cheated on in a long term relationship , will never see him in the same light again .

Wasn't he allegedly break dancing in the sky box when Ji scored in the last minute against Citeh? Not the actions of somebody who supports Citeh in my humble opinion.

This message board has seriously gone to the dogs!

Game, Set and Match. Close the thread now. Anyone that can't see what Niall Quinn did for our club is obviously a moron.

ffs grow up.........Quinny did a magnificent job for us....END OFF, STOP TRYING TO REWRITE HISTORY.
On a personal note i do feel he has an affiliation for us mainly because he overcame a career ending injury with us and played his best football with us and was after his early plank days was mostly adored by most fans.

Sometimes stuff like taht can get to folk and ithink we did,but also we were also ripe for development and i dont think (using his business head on) that he would have taken us over if we did not have the SOL in place...anyway what a wonderful job he has done for us irrespective of his motivesor financial reward .Would you rather have ashley and lambias or dave whelen ect.i for one am thankfull that peter reid brought him to our slumbering giant, let us win something so we can have a party with him as guest of honour.

Never mind Quinnies bar!Ellis please ignore his humbleness and name the new south stand after him he bloody deserves it!we dont have to use his name the Big Fellas Stand wil do.

He loved us when we needed him to love us

for that I'll always be grateful and would shake his hand

not bothered who he professes the greatest love for now, he's gone and looking for new opportunities, his blarney will stand him in good stead. Simple as ........

And that my friend, is this thread over and done with.

Some of the posts on this thread are extremely annoying and must be written by people with total stupidity syndrome!

How anyone can ever question SNQ's love for SAFC is beyond me. If you met him and talked to him you would understand this even more deeply but FFS please engage brains before questioning the great man ffs!!!

in 2006 Sunderland afc was in the shit, really truly in the shit. a man called Niall Quinn came and saved the club.

now in 2012 the club is in the best position for years, all because of Quinn.

Niall Quinn loves SAFC & SAFC love Niall Quinn. theres no reason to doubt this....

I'm sure when we're challenging for the league title he'll be co-commentating on our games in a biased fashion. The man's a legend. More so for us than Man City.

This.

I believe Quinn has some affection for Arsenal and Man City, but I'd never doubt he adores our club.

I rekon the way it ended with us still not getting the big crowds despite all of his work will have left a sour taste and maybe tainted his view of the club TBH.

It is debateable that we would even exist in our current form if it was not for him. Met him a few times and he is a top man, one of the best in football and we should be proud of him and his association with our club. One day I hope that the club erect a statue of him and place it right at the entrance of the ground. What he did should never be forgotten.
