What would a perfect Durham summer begin with?

Lots of young bats? So the return of shiv or hussey for the whole summer.
Amla? I love living in clodcuckooville!
 

Amla would be ideal, considering SA's only international cricket next summer is the ICC Champions Trophy in June, which is over here anyway.
 
Seeing as how Durham exceeded the wage cap this season, no one will be coming unless some of unwanted high wage earners are moved on.

whilst an amla, chanderpaul, ponting or similar would be canny in terms of the profile i'd be quite happy with the continuation of our youth policy - jennings, rocky, stokes, richardson, borthwick, wood, harrison et al seem full of promise and it would be great to see them get chances, take them and turn out quality
 
Will try and find out. I know thorp was offered a 1 year deal. Plunkett been told he can find another club with yorkshire rumoured. Plunkett was at the game today doing some training during lunch. Claydon staying put another 2 year. Smith & muchall's contract must be due for review as well as brathwaite who has been a total waste. Myburgh was signed until the end of the season. The club will need to sort jennings out as he's only on an academy contract. We've got a lot of good young lads who deserve a chance. Phil hughes is maybe the only player I'd like to see join. Some people on here are on cuckoo land with suggested names

I think Hughes may open with Watson for Australia next summer. Not sure they are 100% confident on Ed Cowan.

Blackwell will probably join Warwickshire wont he? I know they sign Jeetan Patel usually but he's back in the NZ fold so will be away during the season.

I don't think so, they can't afford his wages unless he takes a big drop from what his last years contract at Durham is worth.

It's possible Durham may come to a compromise with Blackie and whoever takes him on, but it's still going to cost Durham a lot of money to move him on, and the same applys to Plunkett.

Will all depend on wages with Blackwell.
 
Most New Zealanders bar Guptil would be 'cheap' to pick up. Which is why I've advocated the signing of Kane Williamson.

However, I work with a lad from Worcester who sent me a text suggesting we've asked to speak to Alex Kervezee.

Canny player.

Guptill would be a great signing but I think Durham will keep the Jennings/Stoneman opening partnership next season.
