I also Read that as a club Release Clauses are a no no in player contracts. The potential for Roefs is Huge and he is already one of the best keepers in the league. Anything less than 65 million and we’ve had our pants pulled down.

Doesn’t matter what we spend number wise. Look at Newcastles & Liverpools signings vs ours. Rather than go out & sign who is perceived to be other people’s best players we sign good players whose circumstances aren’t quite right at the minute. With Reinildo, Mukiele, Alderete & Brobbey we took advantage of situations. That all comes with a different price tag of signing an Elanga or Wirtz.

We’ve had an amazing season especially given now little we spent on our squad. To improve on their will likely be very difficult all the top teams are chasing the better players and so much money has been spent recently by them on players who have not produced much given the spend.
We are unlikely to progress on the £20m per player spend level. But I’d also be nervous using all of our money on a couple of higher values players as the risk of getting it wrong would be huge.

Spending it wisely is key. We bought 13 or 14 Europa League quality players (in the case of Xhaka I’d say Champions League quality) for less than the Mags spent on 3 bang average plodders.
On paper I agree, I just worry he’s another Bowyer or Stubbs

We can spend all day and all night speculating which imho is all complete pie in the sky.
I prefer to concentrate my attention on the next 7 games giving it maximum and see where we end up.
Meanwhile l have every confidence that the management team will quietly be going about their business behind the scenes. I am sure they will have targets identified and several plans in place. Whatever decisions they make re incoming and outgoing players l am more than comfortable with and have no doubt we will be a stronger outfit overall next season.

This...However, due to our success in the transfer market and how well we've done this season, the problem we'll have next season will be when we approach a club they'll be expecting a helll of a lot more than the fees we paid for the likes of Roefs etc..

Only 2 keepers in history have cost over £65m. Think some our fans are getting carried away regarding the price someone will pay for Roefs.
He's had a brilliant season, but there is no way on earth that we are getting a fee of over £65m for him.
We will also struggle to say no and keep him, if a Champions League team comes in for him. These are just the realities.

We won’t be after a RB if Mukiele and Hume stay, especially if we keep Geertruida.
LCB, LB,RW, CM, 10, CF would be my targets. As to who then I’m really not sure.
IMO it's not about how much, or even about how many we bring in, it's about what we do with it. I'd like us to bring in more depth in centre midfield, specifically to make us less reliant on Xhaka, and up front, to make us less reliant on Brobbey (assuming Isidor leaves).
I'd like to see us improve how we get more support to Brobbey (but that might be about changes to the way we play, to get more out of the likes of Talbi, Adingra, Rigg, and Diarra, rather than new signings as such).
I think we have to grow used to the idea that we may be selling 1 or 2 players each summer if we can sell when the time is right - I have a feeling we may sell Sadiki rather than Roefs this summer.

Why not? There are potentially loads of £20m players out there that would improve our squad.
It's just a case of whether we can find them and buy them, before someone else does.
Roefs, Xhaka and Mukiele all cost less than that and have been our 3 best players this season.

Under the new SCR rules you simply cannot afford losses on players as it directly impacts on your budget. At worst, you can let a player run their contract down
Like it or not a good player will be sold for money to fund others its the way it works. Do you think we would of spent anywhere near summer spending without Bellingham and Watson sales. I would love to keep all the good players but its not going to happen. Its also the only way to improve revenue significantly to allow larger investment in the team due to scr or whatever the flavour of the month is. A £50 Million sale allows the purchase of approximately 5 x £30M ish players on 4 year contracts as each player would amount to £7.5 M per year if the club wanted to invest that much. That would meet this years scr but you need to cover next year or stop buying players for a year or 2. They could sell players and not invest which would be suicidal, as would not improving the squad / standing still as it stands.

Yes they have and that’s in favour of bigger revenue teams. That doesn’t mean we cannot spend again. I’m sure the club factored next season in and what was coming during last summer.
Nar. Matty will follow Pickfords loan journey. If we sell Roefs I expect us to either bring in another Roefs type or Ellborg to be first choice

I reckon before selling we have probably a strong 100 million budget. Get rid of some of the deadwood plus Isidor, you are looking sound. Might even sell Patto which would be lucrative due to his home grown status.
