Next England Coach prospects

scotch

Striker
Colly wants the job - think he'd be a great fit for the 1 day side and T20
Ponting - probably a pipe dream but would love him as test coach
Kirsten wants the test job - again a good fit imo

Flemming has done a cracking job in the IPL. Would be a great choice if he fancied it for the T20 stuff.

Pointing would be good choice for the test side imo, but he said on the Grade Cricketer that he wouldn't take the India or Aussie job as it was far too much travel and he wanted to spend time with his young family.

Ponting would be my choice. He did say he didn't want to work abroad but think it was in regards to either a job with Pakistan or India. Perhaps he'd be more open to moving somewhere with the same language where he's lived before (albeit briefly)

I think Colly would be a good choice, as Test Coach and even 50 over coach if he'd have the time to do both. As a [player he certainly knew how to play good Test cricket so I don't think he should be thought of as only a coach for limited overs sides.

I have a lot of time for Ponting but I'd prefer a Durham lad to get the gig.

From what he’s said over years I just can’t see him managing England, he’s not disrespectful towards us just I get impression he wants to stay clear

Be the dream appointment

Colly isn’t the worst shout like. I don’t see it as an internal appointment like silverwood. Colly knows international cricket and he is someone who thinks outside the box too as you’ve seen this tour, been s clear shift in backing certain players like leach and Crawley and leaving out the 2 legends.

My feeling is that the silverwood thing might stop him getting it

Strauss saying the director of cricket will appoint him

I just hope it’s not langer
