What the fuck is the “Great run north”?

When I first read it, I took it to mean something like 'the great (people) run North (to Newcastle because it's so brilliant' and it was in a way referencing the Great North Run.
But then reading it again, the whole sentence is "making the great run North a piece of stottie cake". I think they've actually got the words the wrong round and signed it off and nobody has noticed. Because 'making the great North run a piece of cake' would make sense, then just chucking stottie cake in there gives a further Newcastle reference.

It's absolute shite anyway. Multinational banking corporations trying to be all matey and have regional pride. Hideous.
