Because tire kickers are a pain in the arse, and yes he either puts up or shuts up.. I genuinely don't see the issue with that statement. It's not saying all potential suitors have to prove their worth to Newcastle fans or hierarchy, it is saying, if you are claiming to be a billionaire that is genuinely interested in buying a football club, prove it. Since according various press statements he couldn't afford to stump up 25mil for Liverpool.
So no, it's not because we think we are some kind of nation demanding that a Sheikh proves himself.. You jumped to that conclusion from the words of one man.

Hope not to be perfectly honest, I wouldn't want millions upon millions spent above our means but would be nice to have some investment into the training facilities and youth set up. Would also like a revenue stream via sponsorship.

Honestly, It's everything wrong with football. I should also say that if it did happen and we were the next Man City, I wouldn't Shed a tear for football. It will be a case of "can't beat them, join them" but I genuinely wished teams lived within their means.

Even that creates imbalances though. There will always be the teams who are a more saleable brand and as such generate higher sponsorship, merchandise and other non-football related revenue. The real issue with these billionaire owners is that once they decide to stop, where do your Chelsea/ Man City/ PSG type clubs go from there?

They decline, as has happened countless times in history. If you go back long enough, there's always been ups and downs of a club's fortunes - just as there is in real world businesses - IBM / Nokia / General Motors etc all had their moments, then declined (not necessarily dead though).
But is that such a bad thing if for a while, you get a glimpse of what it's like to win things? If you look at the table of all time most successful British clubs, you soon realise A) how the overwhelming majority of success is enjoyed by about 10 clubs - not a lot for over a century of football and B) how many names like Wolves, Blackburn, Sunderland, Huddersfield are still up the top 20.
Not much has really changed in the world with the advent of sugar daddies - they've always been around. The stakes are bigger now, but the principle remains - not much changes in the grands cheme.
