Out of the 3 we look tighter but we're still giving daft goals away. We should have had more from City, Palace and Southampton which would have us far more comfortable than we are. Any of us 3 can go

TBF mate, if we'd got more out of every game we'd be fighting it out with Leicester.

It was an excellent performance at Southampton but we deserved no more than a point ......... at 70 minutes I wanted the referee to blow for time.

I get your point but we're doing well with the team we have imo.

"It is no secret that but they do not seem prepared to sack him until they are absolutely confident Benítez will sign on the dotted line. It is thought the Spaniard is likely to agree an initial 10-game contract with an option for it to become a three-year deal should relegation be avoided."

What about his other failings?
Only given 4 months at Inter
Good job at Chelsea
One Italian cup finishing 3rd and 5th at Napoli. Good record at a club who despite getting good crowds are rarely successful.
Of course as @RichD said he was crap at Real Madrid for not winning a trophy between August 2015 and January 2016.

The same Napoli who were second when he took charge, then ended up fifth and when he went are back up to 2nd?

Mirror update: Final push to land Benitez tonight. Tufty set to be sacked Friday then Benitez to be unveiled hours later.

The daft thing is the Tweet in the OP wasn't actually breaking news so the original post was wide of the mark IMO. His Tweet actually read "someone just told me Steve McClaren has been sacked. Is this true?" That's not breaking news to me it's asking a question. And here we are 101 pages later
Thats why I put a ? marra.

Maybe slipped a bit in the league but winning the cup more than makes up for that. Some people think Napoli are giants in Italian football, they're not. They've won less than us and the mags.
What are your views on his time at Chelsea?
Do you blame him for Real Madrid being trophy-less between August 2015 and January 2016?

Napoli's history is pretty irrelevant though, they had and still have a very good squad. He underperformed, in typical Benitez style they went backwards in the league so he could win a cup.

Madrid he should never have got the job and was always going to last 2 minutes.

Chelsea is a tough one, he won the Europa league with a squad than won the champions league a year before...

He's got an excellent cup record, but his league performances have been shit for about 8 years.
