Newcastle Manager Situation

I think people are underestimating our improved performances.

I know we haven't got the points we probably deserved but we're keeping the points ticking over.

The last 6 games we have had Man City, Man U & Palace at home with Liverpool, West Ham & Southampton.
That is a pretty tough run of fixtures and we are all dissappointed with 6 points because we have played well.

Think our defence has improved lately and with a striker like Defoe we're always likely to score.

I was at 5 of those games and watched the West Ham game live on TV. We were poor at Liverpool but in the other games we have been competitive against teams doing well (Palace excepted). We also beat Swansea away just before that run and lost at Spurs having taken the lead.

On current form we are better than Newcastle but its narrow margins in this league and we could easily lose to them if our performance level drops. Hopefully if Rafa takes over he tries to tinker and gets it wrong as I very much doubt he's the type to keep an eye on the bottom end of the premier league and already have a deep understanding of their players. Allardyce has our squad sussed now and we will be competitive. Its up to them to match us.

Got my ticket for St James and as ever I am not looking forward to it. Hate the derby games to be honest and cannot understand those who wonder whether we would miss them if them/us go down. I would just be happy not to have to go through that again for 15 months or so. Loved it for that season when they were in the Championship.

But will fat Mike sign over control... Something he's not used to doing....
The protracted nature of all of this shows the disarray... Even though it's been obvious the tufty is a blagger

That's bollocks. He runs SD with the family. He's happy to share control

It's Charnley and MA's mates that's the culprit. Ashley would appoint Shipman as club doctor if a mate recommended it

Those players and £80m less worth of additions had them top half before Carver and Tufty. Really think management is their biggest problem.

Any team with Rob Elliott, Janmaat (defensively poor), Coloccini, Mbemba (who has been out for over a month), Taylor, Lascellas and Dummett as their defensive options then they have problems.

It's going to be nervy!

Hopefully we can get 4 points (atleast) from the next 2 games.

this must be the first time mike ashley has ever made a genuinely good decision?

their squad is shite but benitez is class and he'll probably get something out of coloccini for the last ten games.

With them getting Benitez it's increased our chances of going down but only a little, still same players to work with.

And throw in the fact he will no absolutely nothing about their squad. Will take him three or four games to even get a feel for it and hopefully y then its too late.

For e.g. does he know if they have a better centre half than Steven Taylor? He will no doubt go with the current coaching staffs recommendations for Leicester and take it from there. Sad thing for Rafa is that Steven Taylor is one of their best centre halfs. and therein lies their problem.

We know better than anyone from the Di Canio, Poyet & Advocaat reigns that you can end up getting a tune out of the very worst of players temporairly, Coates looked like Rio Ferdinand in his prime against Arsenal away last year..

More often than not it makes absolutely no difference to the outcome. We've just been beneficial to a change the last few times.

As for Coates looking like Ferdinand? He was committed that game, and had the heart of a lion but on another day we could have been hammered by 5...

Not world beaters but Mbemba and Coloccini aren't the worst CBs, certainly better than what they have starting atm - so those two returning will boost them. Janmaat isn't the strongest defender but he isn't 'poor'. Left back is a problem for them. Comparing first choice back 4s I'd have theirs over ours.

Collocini has been shockingly bad this season.
