I'm not rewriting it at all. They were out at the last 16 stage until Gerrard hit one in the last minute. They were also dead and buried until he hoyed Gerrard up front (yes, it was his decision). Sorry to win the Champions League with that Liverpool side was an unbelievable achievement, the one that got to the final 2 years later still had the likes of Pennant and Crouch in, seems unthinkable now when managers feel like they have to spent £200 million just to get top 6.
