I’ve just been speaking on the phone with one of the lads from work, his brother in law has a season ticket at Pompey and from what he’s been saying, if the mags try this at our match down there they won’t receive a warm welcome. Might be an idea for any mags considering this one to give it a swerve.
Fuck em. If they want to try and take the piss then they will have to deal with the consequences.

Them attending our games is strange behaviour to say the least, let alone tragic. Does this stem from them thinking they are everyone's second team?
Bizarre.

The reason it is happening is rooted in their psychology. They believe they are a big time club and they now believe we are a small time club in a small time league. Therefore, they believe going to our games is like watching South Shields or something, as we are no longer on "equal" terms as teams and attending having no significance to the support of their club. It is also to use this aspect to mock our plight.

Of course if the situation was reversed, I cannot name anyone who would dream of attending theirs, showing how the egotistical and delusional attitudes are attributable solely to them.

I’ll never understand why some cretins are going to your games. Especially away from home.

It’s f***ing weird.

At the beginning of the 80's I went to one of yours - Chelsea away - as I was living down there and wanted to see Gazza. At no point did I even consider wearing a Sunderland shirt as I would have probably got a slap and really could have had no complaint about it.
I did get noticed by a few Shields mags but a few nods and knowing winks sorted everything.

you meant 90s

Absolutely bound to happen eventually. Ashley has been there over ten years, is short of £300m he might have done something better with, has had endless abuse from idiots and will take a decent offer.

I agree. But I have a feeling that the attitude and demands of the fans are very off putting to investors. Given that they have been banging on for years about the lack of money spent and such, turning on anyone who does not match their vision for the club, that is very intimidating to all but the very wealthiest investors.

As soon as you make a financial decision they disagree with, they will be on your back and hounding you out. To look to invest in the club at sensible levels, adhering to its realistic position, a stable mid table outfit (breaking the top is nigh on impossible without monstrous money) they simply aren’t going to have it are they?

The fans are not an asset to NUFC they are a huge liability to any potential owner. Likewise the longer they stay glued to the bottom, the more risky it becomes. This is hardly worth a gamble on £300 million.

Sounds quite plausible. If they are relegated again they'll be taken over very quickly IMO.

Until the HMRC case is resolved, and the supporters behave like normal human beings, it'll make a sale difficult but not impossible.

It won't be a mega-rich individual they're praying for though, more likely a consortium with moderate ambitions.

I’d like to think his ego would sooner see them implode than do them a favour. Alas I’ll be wrong.

This HMRC case is taking longer than the Ashley our protests.
