Worth noting that , though the title wins with Valencia were an exceptional achievement, he did not take over a basket case of a team. Ranieri had built a good side there and had finished second twice IIRC.

i thought he took over from hector cuper,exceptional wins maybe although 75 and 77 points now would be 3rd and 4th such is the dominance of the big 3,also bear in mind deportivo had also won it around this time,socieadad only missed out by 2 points one season,and villareal had a 2nd place,it was an era when the so-called minnows had a chance,not that valencia are minnows btw,what stands out to me with rara is after jose won the treble for inter rafa was sacked with them in 6th place and moaning about no money.

Aye. I'd forgotten about Cuper!
But between them they left a club in good order. No doubt that the waiter improved them though, although I'd say that is the only time that can be said of him, possibly excepting Liverpool. CL win and another final to boot, but no league title.

It’s interesting to hear Klopp is such an improvement at Liverpool when in his 3 years there he has won nothing.
Benítez won an FA Cup, Champions league and Euro Super cup in same timescale.
