I txt "should of gone to Shields or Sunderland".

Reply, "Arctic Monkeys aren't on there".

Couple of lads at work said it was a scuffy hole like.

Haven't been since the eighties and in no rush to find out.
Al just tak there word for it ;)

At the risk of being branded a Mag or worse, I was actually there last Tuesday with work and had a tour round ground, changing rooms, dug outs etc and I was thinking what a great stadium it looked.

TIN HAT ON

I was there on a freebee earlier in. Season and I thought it was pretty impressive .... suppose you see all the faults when you live in it.

The likes of Arsenal fans views are pretty irrelevant, in that their benchmark is a different class of stadium all together. SOL and SJP where early versions of new/refurbished stadiums ... built on much more of a budget. Leeds even earlier, is feeling very tired through neglect.. was there for England game and it’s a horrible stadium and feels very dated. That’s at a level well below SOL of SJP.

Interesting contrast to my day at the New Wembley, no idea where we should have gone in - our 'access' didn't seem to get a mention on any signs, maybe just missed them in the crowds- found ourselves at a corporate entrance at the bit of the ground I knew we were in and asked a bloke which way to go. "Don't bother with that", he said "It's all one, come in this way go up to level ? and you can connect out onto the concourse there." My sons an adult and no disabilities involved, just two ordinary fans- he used his hand held scanner and we were in, up some escalators and off to our seats. Courteous and polite staff at the pre-seat ticket check as well. Don't get me wrong, Wembley is impressive, but it's these little things that make the difference - for 40 years of going to games under my own steam I've felt more like cattle or 'the accused'.

It’s all part of the ‘customer’ experience .... we were ahead of the game when we built the stadium .. to a point. We should have seen the future demand for better facilities in concourse areas. The concourse areas where out of date the day they were built. The customer experience is not just about the match anymore... what’s more there are revenue generating opportunities being missed.
At Roker I didn’t give a toss about the facilities, when SOL opened I was blown away so proud... no so much about match day experience is poor... maybe Iam just getting old. But you can list them... access(parking), prices and quality of food and drink, space on the concourse, comfort, small seats etc etc.
