Nowt wrong with curry chips and rice as a quick greasy fix but gravy and curry together is absolutely bogging.

Not saying Liverpool would want him, be interesting to see if Klopp does as well for Liverpool as Benítez did though , I don’t think he will.

I know Sunderland fans don’t rate Benítez and love Ashley but that article just sums up the neutral logical opinion of them both.

I think he's a good manager if the circumstances suit him.

He needs to come into a club with a core of very good players, be allowed a free hand and leave before it starts to unravel.

He's never struck me as a long term manager in the style of Ferguson because his activity in the transfer market is too erratic.

I've absolutely no idea why he would go to a yo-yo club, like Newcastle, with an owner like Ashley.

I can only think it was because he was out of work and it was the best offer he got.

It's all very well for the pundits to praise Benitez but we'll see how well regarded he really is with his next appointment.

In my opinion he's now on the Hughes/Allardyce/Moyes level and will never manage a top club again.

He's not capable of taking a lower half club and doing what the likes of Dyche or Howe has done.

Probably bounce off into the sunset with his pay off

He took over Newcastle who were ruined under Mcclaren and pretty much already down, within the space of two years got the same club to 10th in the league whilst having to work under a owner who refused to spend money unless it’s through player sales, that’s good management to me.

McClaren who took you pretty much down (bollocks you weren't in the relegation zone when he was there) but got players you sold and gave Bouncy his net spend you always bang on about.

Yet he's used it on absolute shite..

Hes not a bad manager but he's not world class, he wouldn't be at your club if he was.

He's a chequebook manager

That is beautiful stereotypical rafa idolism at its very best. They were right in the mix with everyone else down there but failing to beat SAFC, Norwich and Villa who had lost about 10 in a row sent them down. They were so negative at Villa it was beyond belief.

Newcastle were in relegation trouble for most of the season, 10th was achieved when most of the teams Newcastle played were 'on the beach'.

Bruce did exactly the same with Sunderland when we finished 10th.

Newcastle are currently at the bottom, Benitez has a massive game tomorrow in which he'll probably employ the same grindingly boring tactics.

BTW, Newcastle weren't 'pretty much already down' ..... that really is delusion and historical airbrushing at it's finest

Bruce fucked that season up. We should have finished much higher as we weren’t that far behind the top 4 in January

Not even when he goes at the end of the season.

Some of them are stupid enough to turn up at the club he manages next.

He's managed clubs where he's actually won things but seems to have no affiliation with ...

... yet the Mags think he'll love them until the end of time

He was loved at Chelsea IIRC  so obviously he was there for the fans not the money

Benitez was on Look North, in his first interview, claiming he'd keep them up because they were a good team that had simply been mismanaged

He then mismanaged them against Sunderland and a Villa team that had lost a dozen on the bounce

They won’t admit that, it doesn’t fit in with their infatuation of someone they call world class.

Grown fuckin men wanking over him on a daily basis, it really is embarrassing.

I think you’ll find a lot of Sunderland fans think he’s a decent manager, that’s all he is, nothing more.

He certainly isn’t as good as you deluded fuckers think he is. Without a huge amount of money to spend he is at his peak, only a mag would say otherwise Benji.

You’re being too generous there mind. He’s finished, he had Real 4th or 5th in Spain and failed miserably and had just about every ace card there you can get. He even nearly made Ronaldo average FFS

Funny though

It is, but in a slightly tragic way to be fair.

Reminds me of when a mate has a girlfriend who's an absolute nightmare but the lad just can't accept it and defends her to the death.

The embarrassment when it all ends, and he looks back at how he acted is absolutely cringing to watch.

There are Mags who'll be unable to comprehend what the fuck they were thinking.

I've no idea what his 'win ratio' in the PL is with Newcastle but they can't have won many games.

The quality of football is absolutely dreadful ..... the Mags must have rose tinted glasses handed to them as they go through the turnstiles.

getting a squad that cost the 12th/13th most in the league to 10th isnt that big an achievement. decent job.
