I understand the net spend rationale in terms of wanting to club to spend even more than the 31 million spent. In terms of value of players that have been brought IN to the club though it is irrelevant. Players sold don't affect the cost/value of the players that are brought in.
If anything it facilitates the ability to bring those players into the club and leave any future turnover to actually pay the wages and run the club. Very sensible way to operate.

Championship Nottingham Forest who outspent us this summer, that Forest?

We're not very good, and have the second cheapest squad in the PL......that's kind of my point.

Spurs have spent fuck all this summer so by mag theory should be rooted to the foot of the table.

It’s just pathetic excuse after pathetic excuse to blame anyone but the fella picking the team.

Bit low tbf

I think we both know he’s rewriting history though.
Its getting boring now tbh you lot will continue to defend benitez to the hilt no matter what happens even relegation even though the neutral fan and journalists are starting to question him a bit like his decision to get rid of mitrovich, merino and gayle and replace them with muto ki Rondon for example. His tactics his negative football even in games against Cardiff and forest.

Fwiw I think he's a good manager but that's it not amazing not world class I also think he will keep you up but I also think he is playing the fans against Ashley to take the heat of himself

It is provided you see improvements to squads, which there has been. Just not as dramatic as improvement as fans want/think they entitled to.

This summer they sold a 3rd choice striker to bring in a first choice striker the manager wanted all summer, and sold a CB that has barely kicked a ball in years to bring in two CB's to improve their defence. They then added Ki (probably worth approx 10 million) to replace Merino who didn't play much last season and is an improvement and Muto (who I've not seen any of). They have undeniably improved their squad from last season. The debate is how they could have improved it further with more investment if the ambition and finances were there.

If they sold Ki for 10 million next summer and signed Moussa Dembele on a free (for example) there would be an improvement again in the squad but complaints their net spend would be -10 million.

If they let Shelvey leave for free and signed Colback for 10 million their squad would be worse but net spend would be +10 million but again they wouldn't be happy.

Net spend just isn't a particularly good measurement of a successful/failure of a transfer window. It is more of a measure of clubs finances/ambition (but they two are generally linked).

I strongly disagree.

I criticised him after the Forest game but you’ve chosen to ignore that.

Literally the only reason you’re not the National laughing stock is that literally no one outside the north east knows who you are, never mind gives a fuck

Literally?

I've worked in Costa Rica, Czech Republic and South Korea in the last five years and all of the lads who were into football that I met knew who we are. Fair enough they knew we were crap and always near the bottom but they knew who we are.

So many Mags come up with the same shite that you've spouted. Mags I suspect that rarely leave the North East.

I don’t live in the north east

Wolves drew with them and they were a f***ing championship side last season. Wank over the magnificent Rafa inspired defeat all you want but If city had their shooting boots on yesterday it would have been a f***ing possing.
Didn't wolves just spend 100m or so in the transfer window?

You had the biggest wage budget in Second tier football history that season. Fair play to Ashley for supporting the club during this period when he could have let you sink but don’t see anyone giving him credit for that.

He was simply protecting his investment, but you could argue that we shouldn't have been relegated in the first place. Clearly he didn't learn his lessons the first time.

What about the biggest wage budget in third tier football history. I wonder who has that record?
