Haven’t a clue. But whatever he did is his own fault for not doing proper due diligence. Ashley is an example of many owners who have taken over football clubs and completely disregarded the heritage and what it means to a city. This is not something that should be celebrated and laughed at, football fans should be coming together to force legislation or a review into the fit and proper test...all these parasites are in it for their own interests and they don’t give a fuck if a regions heritage is fucked up in the process.
Sorry but I’ll happily pee me pants at the Mags. Outside of them I agree

What if they're worse than he is?

Besides no one with any real money and ambition wants to buy the club

Just look at the owners Newcastle have had in your lifetime and get real.

A series of fat idiots laughing at the supporters .... at least Ashley does it to your face.

Im not really interested in anything you think. Sorry.

Surely they mean,

'We are a city, some of whom are NUFC supporters, some Sunderland, some who couldn't give a shiny shite about football and are sick of these weirdos driving 'Pardew Out' vans around, waving ludicrous banners and smashing the place up when they're having their regular tantrums'.

I think they’re within their rights to ask why they are one of lowest spenders in the league, despite having £150m from last season and £50m already from this in their coffers. Especially when teams like wolves and Fulham who have been out of top flight for years and spending like it’s going out of fashion. Haven’t they hiked their season tickets by 15% too or something? Whilst it’s funny to laugh at them melting down, they’re quite right to stand up for their club cos if they lose Benitez, then they’re fucked. They recognise that and want to do everything they can to keep hold of him.
Now I could be wrong here, but haven’t Newcastle already gambled in the past and have around £140m debt to prove this, they also have a huge wage bill to service.

Due to the TV money being thrown around, lesser attended clubs can now find it much easier to compete in the top flight. Teams like Wolves and Fulham will have debts and wage bills which are very small in comparison and can therefore afford to take a bit of a gamble by splashing the cash a bit, just like Newcastle did in the past. Newcastle tried to buy success and are now simply having to be more prudent in their approach because of this and they don’t like it, but there’s no reason why other clubs shouldn’t be able to take a gamble in the same way.

Also, the 15% ticket increase is a little misleading. I believe the price actually reduced when they were relegated and was frozen last year (no one thanked Mike for that) and therefore the increase is only slightly higher than that of 2-3 years ago.

I’m sure one of the many mags on here will correct me if I’ve misread this somewhere.

“If Rafa goes we go”.

So is the city bigger than one man or not?

The Fat Blimp can't leave the circus in the Town, 'cos he'll hev to give Fatty no. 1 another £6m on top of the SKY and Mitroshit money he's just trousered......

They are/were a newly promoted club and they spent very similar to other newly promoted clubs last season. They also spent far far more than those clubs who came up with them in the promotion season. Something their fans like to skim over.
I would also imagine the wage that Ashley is paying Benitez is that of a top 6 clubs type salary as I don’t Imagine he comes cheap.
All in all Newcastle need to accept that they are a nothing premier league club who much like everyone else outside top 6 won’t missed if they drop. Another season like last is the best they can hope for this season.
There only chance is to find some Man City type owner which at present is looking very tricky to attract.

We also recouped a lot more 'than those clubs that came up with them', something you have 'skimmed over'.

No doubt I'll be told that this is 'irrelevant'.

Not irrelevant at all but Ashley still backed him with the money that was brought in.
Now given the adulation Benitez enjoys amongst your fans as a ‘world class manager’ it could be argued that he maybe shouldn’t have needed to spend what he spent to get out of championship which would have gave him more funds for when got back to promised land.
I seem to remember Rafa complaining in the January of your promotion season about needing more money actually. He does like to twist on mind.

If you remember that, then you may remember there was a £30m profit in transfers after the summer transfer deals before the start of the championship season. Which he wasn't allowed to spend. It's covered several times every day on here. If he'd have spent less, he'd have still not got the extra to spend.
But the aim was promotion, achieved at the first time of asking. Money well spent.

He had to completely overhaul the squad and make sure that we came up at the first time of asking at the same time. But aye, maybe he shouldn’t have spent as much.

Continue with yet another forensic analysis of Rafa Benitez’s tenure as Newcastle manager though. We haven’t had enough of them on here.

its "irrelevant" because you always "skim over" the fact you spent almost 100m the season you went down, so were able to sell some of those players and spend less. the teams you came up with didnt have those assets to sell in the first place. they also have a fraction of your wage bill, so the likes of fulham and cardiff will have 60m+ "spare cash" to spend on players that you dont.

Is that the £100m we would have had from an extended stay in the top flight compared to the teams challenging around us?

That £100m is an outlier compared to how relatively frugal we were in the years proceeding that.

You only have to look at Villa to see how vital it was that we were promoted at the first time of asking.

The blokes a good manager and will have yous comfortable again this season, I actually think the business you have done so far is good I just find the way you lot behave regarding Ashley to be utterly ridiculous and makes you come across as deluded.
Our fans went on scandalous with Bruce and Poyet, whisper it quietly but Reid got absolute dogs abuse as well. The fans up here have a loftier idea of their standing than reality would suggest. We have had a dramatic fall which has lead to a massive downplay of expectations and putting a bit of brave face on things but make no mistake if we go on the charge and make strides towards the premier league the expectations will start again here as well. It’s just the way it is.
