No, I want Ashley to permit Benitez to use the funds raised by player sales and competition money to strengthen the squad. This season brought £120m into the company coffers from the Premier League and that's before match day income, player sales and any commercial deals. From that I don't think it's unreasonable to want a very good manager who's delivered a top ten finish in the first season back, to be fully backed in the transfer market to make sure that we remain a Premier League club next year.
He needs to sanction the recruitment of players who will improve the playing squad, for two reasons; 1, if he doesn't Benitez will go (and fuck knows who would replace him, but he's not likely going to be a better manager) and 2, this squad over-achieved this season and we shouldn't expect that feat to be repeated.
Can we snip this Newcastle board mods ?
@Reiver I have to ask. Is it true you went in the black bull on derby day in a Sunderland shirt. Some balls if true fair play
He'll be away in the summer if he gets a better offer elsewhere in this country.
how much do you think that is man. your turnover was 120m in 2016.
you dont make that much money. This years accounts will show a loss. So what youve generated will be about 40m at most but you wont be happy with that.
According to Horse Abuser Quinn on Talkshite the other morning, Ashley will put in at least £100 million towards transfer fees.We will spend 40m and get in about 25m from sales. Benitez will stay and do well again as we finish 9th-11th before leaving when his contract is up next summer. That would be my guess
15/16 was the last year of the old tv deal. We didn't have access to the new deal in 16/17 as we were in the second division, so the accounts for 2017 will show a loss in tv revenue but covered by the parachute payment and offset a bit with the surplus from the transfer dealings in summer 2016, but in the meantime, since august 2017 we've been back in the top flight so tv revenue alone is expected to be around £120

Good news, if they have.Aye his sources have proved reliable in recent times haven't they
Good news, if they have.
Not respected these days then?Well, @Reiver was more accurate about what was happening with Ashley and Staveley than what Micky Quinn was.
Dunno who told you that but it's true I went in twice including the di Canio 3-0.
I had my shirt on, with a jacket, and didn't either shout the odds or hide the fact.
After we'd had a few pints we strolled over the road into the ground, no one seemed that bothered although an ambulance was called for one lad who had a heart attack.
I don't think my presence was the cause tbh![]()
Not respected these days then?
Totally ignoring your loss though. So you havent generated much. that loss has to be paid for
I think he would be willing to at the right price, everything is for sale as they say.So you think he's lying when he says he wants to sell the club.
saying "within the means of the club" means breaking even and ashley not putting any more money in to increase the debt. any profit gets invested into the players.
your 2016 accounts showed a 4.6m profit on 125m turnover, no idea what the last 2 years would be, but last year you made a profit on sales, had more players (on probably less wages so the wage bill was probably similar) but would have lost some premier league money, so at a guess about the same profit.
you can argue he could have invested 4.6m more in 2016, and maybe the same last year then. not exactly much more than he's doing is it?

Lets just say I don't think he is in any hurry to sell it. If you are trying to sell something you price it to sell, if you stick something on the market for 25% more than it's market value I wouldn't say you are trying to sell it.
He isn't exactly maximising the clubs revenue though is he. He gives all the advertising to sports direct free gratis, all the clubs merchandising goes to sports direct not to the club. All those black and white shirts you keep telling us we wear 24/7, the money from them goes to sports direct not the club. Lets face it, it's a private limited company so they only show what they have to in accounts, not to mention i'm not an accountant so couldn't pick through the bones of it anyway.
We have no debt that we are trying to pay back, no crippling interest payments, we should be able to compete on a financial footing with the likes of Bournemouth and Southampton I think.
