In all fairness this is a really good point, not thought of it before. But it's not because we expected better or higher. I for one wanted Hughton to stay.

1. Pardew was and is a clueless, smug wanka who was never taken to because of this and because he had his tongue up Ashleys hoop. 2. That league position flattered us, that is clear to anyone with a hoop. The form was horrendously erratic and we were blessed with really poor form by nearly every team in the top 10. It was a freak season.

Reid loved Sunderland, Pardew loved himself.
