@CraigHope_DM: BREAKING: NUFC owner Mike Ashley issues statement saying he 'hopes very much' that Rafa Benitez will remain at the club. Also states every penny generated by club is available to him

It's that "every penny the club generates" line that makes me think he won't be here long. He said the same last year as well.

If that's 50m plus sales that's more than enough.

Fair dos I admit to knowing nothing about these cases but I would be very surprised if anything came of it. You can't think and seriously hope we will be deducted points?
The first line speaks volumes. I really don’t know what to expect, you appealed and it got thrown out due to the evidence given.

If they have evidence you’ll get hammered and that’s going off what the PL have stated previously, they’ve been waiting to catch clubs out for this type of thing and by all accounts this wasn’t a one off.

Again, he promised every penny generated last season, all he got was NET spend ;):)

Engineering his way out before the kit has even finished its boil wash after the last game of the season.

He does this all the time tbf. He's just a politician. He will stay either way. He won't want to pay the get out fee. Loads of managers use the press to put pressure on owners to get more money to spend.

He's a winner and wants to push for trophies and European football. He won't stick around to be mid table for a few years. He's apparently not happy that the agreed improvements to the training ground have still yet to happen.

Ashley has no interest in improving and I would be shocked if Benitez is still there in August.
He’s at the wrong club if he’s a winner and wants to push for trophies and European football. He likes to spend mega money to win things etc, I think it’s slowly sinking in that you can’t and won’t compete.

We've proved more than anyone that chucking money at it does not ensure success and clubs like Newcastle don't have the resources to go out and sign a £50m player. You get fuck all value in the transfer market these days.

Unfortunately they will never be content with a middle of the road club, I would be delighted if we could finish between 8th - 12th in the PL every season.

That’s all we ever hoped for, not good enough for the clowns up the road, just ask Bobby’s gurst.

He didn't spend mega money at Valencia winning them la liga and the UEFA cup.

Trophies yes. 100 plus games in Europe in my life time alone means he's not at the wrong club for European football though. If he was backed well for a couple of years I would be hopeful he could end the drought. If anyone is going to it's him.
Have to see what happens in the summer.

So many people just obsessed with money in football now. Their desperation to break their transfer record is ridiculous. It's as if the ability of the player doesn't matter. Just as long as they smash their record.

chelsea didnt want to know today, but i think if raffa is still there in november, and they are not top half he will take the 1st BIG job that comes along.

Listen mate, you’ve spent numerous hours on here and I’ve given you the benefit of the doubt but now you’re just becoming an annoying waste of space.

He could be there from now until the 35th of Junember and you still wouldn’t qualify for Europe. It isn’t and won’t happen.

How many post is that now since about 1230 yesterday?

Flipping heck, are you still here ?
Like a bad smell. Get a life, get out there.

Bigger than Newcastle? There are not that many clubs out there actually. You know, we being the 10th best team in England (winky face).

Daft to argue he hasn't done a good job this season although I do think under rating their squad seems to be all part of the narrative. It's made out it would be a poor championship team, which is nonsense.

He also massively avoided answering a quite direct question straight after the game on 5live.

I thought the fee disappeared once he was in the final 12 months?
It does, I’m not sure when he’s out of that fee, it’s two years since they were relegated, so I’m guessing he signed the contract then, so maybe another year. But, if another club wanted him enough a £6m compensation payment is pretty negligible really.
