It is of no great surprise that you don't like more granular analysis of football.

I don't mind that tbh.

What surprises me is that you have nowt better to do than quote 'heatmap stats' on a Sunderland forum.

Two days now and still fighting the good fight for Newcastle United, it's like you're on a mission.

Does it? I don't think it does, and as an aside I think you're deliberately missing the point of the post which was to back up my assertions that Sunderland managed a point at home to Liverpool without seeing much of the ball.

Yes it's fascinating ...... almost as if you believe there are people who care what you have to say about the Liverpool game or that Sunderland supporters didn't see the game or have access to these stats if they're interested.

Even more fascinating as it's a thread about Newcastle and their poor form.

But perhaps there are people who are interested in your opinions about that game ......... or perhaps you're totally wasting your days on here.

I've no dog in this fight, why would I lie about the amount of possession you had?

BBC says you had 29% possession at home to Liverpool. Whoscored.com agree. The heatmaps show you had the majority of your touches in your own half, where Liverpool's possession was all over the field. Liverpool made twice as many passes as Sunderland, 25% of your passes were long, compared to just 8% of Liverpool's

Liverpool are a top side, those stats look like a team trying to keep it tight against someone better and hit them on the break. The only stat that matters is it ended up a 2-2, their dominance and tippy tappy passing didn't work.. That's tactics mate and the FSW will have to come up with some now it's clear teams are starting to suss you out.

I've no doubt Rotherham will be looking forward to playing a Newcastle side on a wobble.

4 defeats in 8 games isn't what you'd expect from a manager who's brought in his own players, has a settled team and the fanatical support of 52,000 Geordies.

Ah, the wonderfully contradictory "no one cares" reply.

fwiw, Newcastle's form isn't that bad and given the nature of the Championship I'd only be concerned if losing a couple of games dropped us out of the promotion chasing pack. As it stands we remain second, no team has won more games than we have, no league team has scored more, we remain odds on to finish top of the Championship, we've money to spend in January on players who'll be able to pass muster in the top flight and while it's entertaining for Sunderland fans whenever we do lose a game, it's not a real concern for most Newcastle fans. The aim is promotion, we're very much on course for that.

... I think you're taking my post as a criticism. Don't be so precious. I was asked how Newcastle would fare against Klopp's Liverpool and I said we'd likely lose given the gap in quality, but that Sunderland managed a point despite seeing fuck all of the ball so perhaps we could match that, probably not though.

I didn't say that .............

However I did ask you a question you swerved yesterday.

Do you have to care more to come on here as a Newcastle supporter than a Sunderland?

You said that " almost as if you believe there are people who care what you have to say about the Liverpool game ", this very clearly implies that there aren't people who care. Unless you make a habit of narrating the obvious?

You also said "perhaps there are people who are interested in your opinions about that game ......... or perhaps you're totally wasting your days on here." which, again, clearly implies that nobody cares.

Which is ironic given you spend most of your days on here talking about Newcastle United, the fans of Newcastle United and the fans of Newcastle United who post on here.

Your question is poorly worded, are you asking if a Newcastle fan has to care more about Newcastle to come on here, are you asking if a Newcastle fan has to care more about Sunderland to come on here? Are you asking if a Newcastle fan has to care more about the world in general to come on here? It's poorly worded Reiver, but I'll say this; I post on here because it's busy and there are plenty of opportunities for me to point out inaccuracies, misrepresentations and lies.

What's your point though? Leicester won the league last season "without seeing much of the ball."

His point is that Sunderland got the point ....... I jumped off my seat and punched the air when I read that

My point, (which was in the original post) was that despite the gap in quality Newcastle United may be able to use similar setup/tactics to squirrel away a point from Liverpool, as Sunderland did. But that they probably would lose.

That despite the media love-in, Liverpool aren't invulnerable as proven by Sunderland's hard won point.

I honestly think that whenever a vaguely complimentary point is made about sunderland, some posters on here suffer some kind of short circuit. As if it's inconceivable to have a measured, considered and reasonable opinion about local rivals, even in a season where they don't even occupy positions in the same league

Speaking of stats, I seem to remember a game where the opposition had more possession AND (this is a biggie) more corners than us, but we still f***ing twatted them. It's a strange awld game.
Barcelona v Hercules 0 -1 a few years back. If you just looked at the stats and not the score you would have though it was a walk we for Barca

That's all.
We had more possession than Bournmouth did last night against Arsenal and they drew against a top side.

I worded that exactly as I meant to.

As for the answer to my question, you're on a Sunderland forum, for day 2, which means you obviously care.

I'm on various Sunderland threads as well this one talking to fellow supporters which I enjoy.

You keep coming on to 'correct people'?

Dear God, you really believe you're fighting for a cause don't you

... Jesus wept

Yes, which proves that despite the gap in quality it's possible to get points off the top sides if you set up properly. I don't know why you lot are taking this as an insult, or a criticism, it's just a fact

You couldn't even beat Hull when they had 10 men.
