Hayden, Ritchie and Clark have all done alright imo.
We lost 20 players and got 19 in so we needed depth (yes, even Hanley and Murphy). But this opens a wider debate which of no doubt there'll be back and forward massively and it's late.

That 19 (it's actually 18, apologies) includes players returning from loan and the 20 includes players going out on loan.
Benitez has signed 11 permanently and got one in on loan. You yourself included Gayle so I didn't mention him. I was maybe unfair on Diame as I'd put him on the list as well.
Yedlin I haven't seen much of (you'll know more about him than I do). Gamez, Lazaar, Hanley and Murphy were bought as we needed depth after losing or not having the depth in the first place. The only one that is raising a concern at my end is Lazaar as he hasn't featured at all for someone who doesn't necessarily have a decent amount of competition for his place (in my opinion anyway)
