Very frustrating. Surely if you’re him you try and bat as long as possible. Try and be 120* whilst wickets fall.
Theres no pressure today, just bat and make your first ever ton.
If you’re Pope, get a red inker. Make the debate about you go away.

Couple of scores this series mind. Crawley has none
I think Pope would be even worse than Crawley at the top of the order and Crawley would look class batting 6 in this team.
Smith (WK), Pope is the fall guy for me.
Stats say Pope is best at 3 where he averages 40. I get all the arguments why you drop him of course.
I think he’s averaged 39 this series, so whilst he looked crap today he’s largely been pretty decent.
It’s a toss up between him and Smith and Smith should get it. Bethell will be better than Pope has been. And Pope isn’t an opener.
Don’t disagree on Smith vs Pope at all.
Ultimately the guy has had 50+ tests and averages lower 30s. Not good enough really. I get you can say same about Crawley, but in the absence of any competition he will play sadly.
Of batsmen to play at least 50 tests, I think only 1 averages less than Crawley.
He’s managed 4 hundreds in 50 odd tests @ 30 (just)
It’s time to move on with him somehow
