New Shirt

You do realise that has fewer stripes than the new one and it doesn't have the fully red back and isn't just ugly as fuck, right?

I don't think it's ugly. I think it's smart. I don't really care about the block on the back, it wouldn't be my first choice but it's different.

Sunderland's new home kit has been unveiled. And it's causing some debate. Sunderland have launched their new kit with a live unveiling featuring Dawdon Welfare FC. The local Sunday league team sported the home shirt for the first time in a match broadcast live on facebook. The launch featured a live facebook broadcast of the...

That is dreadful like. I used to take the piss of the mags for doing the same.

Don't care what anyone says, it's 'not' a Sunderland shirt, like.

The back even clashes with the sleeves and makes it look like there's two different shades of red going. It's like someone decided to sew half a Jackie White's carrier bag and half a Man United shirt together. It's absolutely dreadful.

As far as I'm concerned it's not a Sunderland shirt. It looks lazy and like they've just got bored and sewed two very contrasting strips together and decided just to stick a Sunderland badge on it, anyway.

Looks decent on actually compared to the promo shots.

Anything is better than the shite served up the last two seasons. They were awful with that baby shit coloured trim.

I'm unsure what you mean mate. Our strips are slightly different every season. If you'd like the template to remain exactly the same every season, fair enough. I like the change.

It gets boring having a similar strip every season and you can't do much with stripes. Even if we emulated the Rowell strip or the Bilbao strip, we'd still be in the same position next season trying to do something a little different.

 Imagine the uproar when we changed to thicker stripes. Oh aye there won't have been one as blokes back then had better things to be complaining about.

Since then there's been changes to football, media, science, news sources, politics, marketing, sex and religion...but football fans have to stay the same?

If all you have to do to make successful fashionable clothing is copy stuff from a hundred odd years ago we'd all be dressed like Peaky Blinders...

Have you ever visited Portland, Oregon?
It's definitely the worst in my lifetime!

We're you around for the Le Coq Sportif pinstripes?

This is the first home shirt that is anything majorly different since the first Avec one which was also way worse.

Bloody fantastic effort. The scarcity of stripes in recent years have contributed immensely to the team's poor on-field displays. I called attention to this fact seasons back when we went from 8 to 7 to eventually having no more than 4 stripes, and rightly predicted that the predominantly white abomination of two seasons past would see us surviving by the skin of our teeth, and that last year's horrifying thing would see us off. I am confident that what we've been endowed with today is a promotion kit par excellence. We're in for a good one lads, haway!!!!!

Just before my time those ones I think. Only started supporting Sunderland around '95.

I just can't understand why so many are wound up about it. We seem to wallow in a shallow pool of negativity.

Perhaps it stems from the club itself but it's also evident in the City of Sunderland imo. Nothing's good enough, and the high priority issues take second fiddle to petty stuff like this. The hysterics over a few stripes is quite amazing.

I wonder if the reaction would be different if we had a better team. Perhaps not. It just seems that anything is turned into a negative at the moment.

You forgot the socks. We've reverted back to the black socks that were synonymous with the 105 point championship winning season as well as the two seasons we finished in the top 7 under Reid.

Whoever selected the strip knows the score.
