New Shirt

The point about this debacle is much more about the commercial implications. It appears to have created mixed receptions but if this board is anything to go by in the main negative.

If there was ever a season that we needed increased revenue, this is it. The signs are that the commercial revenue from shirt sales could be impacted, firstly via the first natural drop in interest following relegation and then getting our design completely out of sync with our supporters wants and expectations.

This impacts direct cash to the club as well as potentially effecting our ability when it comes to re-negotiating with the suppliers when the contracts come up for renewal.

The club really needs some positive spin to improve our brand.
Agreed but they've made a complete balls up of this one similar to many other decisions they make!!

You can't comment until it's been market tested though. The proof will be in the sales and I'll bet most complaining wouldn't have bought it anyhow.

Adidas will pocket most of the money anyway I'll bet.

What's the away shirt gonna be? A mag banana's in pyjamas number, all brown? Speaking of brown the designers want shooting with shit! People on here knock up better designs in 5 minutes.
It's black and white actually.

So we do have a bit of history of shirts with many stripes, just not much of one. About 7 years worth being generous.

 Imagine the uproar when we changed to thicker stripes. Oh aye there won't have been one as blokes back then had better things to be complaining about.

It looks much better in this picture, I like it!

The new home shirt for the upcoming season is rooted in our history as it takes inspiration from the first ever red and white shirt worn by the club in the 1880s. The shirt features a woven club crest and engineered fabric that benefits from adidas CLIMACOOL performance technology.

Absolutely this. As you say, if there was ever a time to 'play safe' and produce something properly traditional, with as much mass appeal as possible, it was now and the fuckwits have gone all left-field. The mind boggles.

I don't like the kit but I like that tracky top they are walking out in. Might get it to replace my DiCanio era one.

The official threads on Facebook and Twitter are negative in the main....there's no getting away from the majority of the replies think it's shite.

Ha'way man mate, twitter and facebook  you'd struggle to find a positive comment about anything on there.

Many just vent, bully, complain and in general be negative or use it as an opportunity to climb on their PC high horse wherever possible.

The tracky top looks class to be fair. I'd never wear one though.

You do realise that has fewer stripes than the new one and it doesn't have the fully red back and isn't just ugly as fuck, right?

See where you're coming from but as stated this was probably approved 2 years ago and following three much of a muchness shirts it was time for something new.

I'm not sure why we never get the one people want most: Rowell Era Reboot. So easy to do and would look good as an adidas shirt.

However, I like it more and more with each photo. Definitely looks better with names and numbers but that, sadly, will stop me and I suspect many other adults from buying it.
