I couldn't tell which rule it is but apparantly when warming up to bowl you are no longer allowed to throw the ball into the ground/turf. If doing so you can be banned from bowling a ball for upto an hour. Not sure how many umpires will stick to this and how many leagues will adopt it but its now a new rule for the new season.

You can bowl the ball to a fielder when warming up but it must go directly into the hands and not touch the ground.

Where do these people come from who make up these rules/laws.
 

:lol: What a ridiculous rule.

What would it actually do? Nothing more than whenever a shot is hit in the air and bounces.
 
deteriorate the ball perhaps who knows. They have been cracking down on the feilding teams deliberately throwing the ball into the ground during ODI games so maybe it has come from that.
 
Canny pointless rule like, it'll still get done from village to test level. Might have a cheeky go at it meself when the umps isn't looking.
 
I noticed during the world cup Englands bowlers bowling straight into the fielders hands when warming up to come on...makes sense now. Bit of a stupid rule tho for club cricket...especially when you could have lost the match ball and a few others and be playing with a ball that's been used and in someones bag for years. What damage can be done warming up when a ball could have been used in nets for years.

Its ok at Test and International level but I hardly think the Durham/North East leagues will need to implement it.
 
hope the fielder doesnt drop it when you're loosening up or you could be heading straight back to fine leg for an hour on the boundary!

These aren't being adopted in the Hetton Lyons Sunday League - the umpires will be allowed to use their judgement.

Apparently the NYSD and North East Durham leagues have decided the same.

We got told the same however like you say it is upto the umpire who is still within his rights to adopt the rule at anytime

Yeah. What league do our twos play in? County? I got confused by the pyramid that was drawn the other day.

The rule about the umpires doing pitch inspections on their own so they can have sole responsibility for deciding if the game goes ahead/ resumes is being adopted though.

the pyramid that was drawn is incomplete. We play in the North East Durham Cricket League NEDCL which is directly below the coast league

If a teams wants a game off enough the umpires will still have words in there ears. Saw it happen last year
