Link to minutes please?

Not sure if there are minutes. There might be, there might not be, I'm not sure, I was at the meeting so haven't really gone missing. I don't think many think RAWA are perfect, I do prefer them to the BLC though. The BLC do a lot of good stuff as well, but their focus is obviously on their members, if you aren't a branch member they don't represent you. I like the fact that RAWA represent all fans with reps from here, BLC, fanzines, LGBTQ etc, pretty much everyone is represented. I, like many, live in the middle of Sunderland, there's no point in me joining a branch (don't even know if there is one near me, would be a bit pointless as there's no need for transport to home games which is a big part of what many of them do) so I like that RAWA represent fans like me and don't spend meetings focused on their branches and how many away tickets they can get and stuff. It might get a mention by RAWA as they have a BLC rep but they can also represent interests of non-branch members. They both serve a purpose and there's certainly no need for any sort of animosity or putting one down in favour of the other

The BLC are also one of the groups in the liaision meetings with the club. The meetings with the club are often characterised as "RAWA meetings"; they aren't, it's just lazy shorthand, In fact, RAWA are only one of half a dozen groups represented; in terms of numbers at those meetings, the BLC has as many attendees as RAWA.

Cheers, didn't know that, I always assumed it was just the BLC rep in RAWA who attended. In that case there's even less of an issue, plenty room for both and no need for either to snipe at the other.

This is the bit that you don't get mate. I'm not against RAWA but I do think they have made mistakes. None of us are perfect but those who follow the RAWA party line (all branch members are old, eat biscuits and are just out for themselves and so on) clearly think that RAWA are.

Party line?! RAWA is just some lads and lasses (voluntarily) trying to improve things for our fans, not a political movement.

My comment about the older fan groups was based on my own first hand experiences. I’d never been involved in anything like this before, and was only interested once I’d spoke to the lads who started it, who confirmed they were gonna be more inclusive and accessible.
Even though some of the existing groups had been around for decades, I don’t recall ever seeing all fans offered the chance to ask questions, offer up ideas, release meeting minutes, etc...
In my first ever meeting with Bain, I was surprised some asking questions about guests at their talk-ins, priority on away tickets, rather than wanting to know what the fuck was going on.
Some were even nodding along in the last one when CM was bad mouthing our fans!
Again, this is just my honest observations. No agenda. I’m on the side of all Sunderland fans, as we’re all in this together.
Groups like the BLC are essential, and do a wonderful job with the amount of branches we now have thanks to them.

I could just add to that that when I was attempting to get chapter and verse on the deal structure, the body language of some of the BLC people was clearly uncomfortable, even though Methven was, if anything, more forthcoming than I had expected, and not at all put out by the line of questioning.

No Minutes of the meeting since the original statement. Iirc, when Donald saw the original minutes he then wanted a meeting done again?

Not factoring in mag interference either.
The idea that true Safc fans can look at the performance of this charlatan and be happy with it is mind-boggling. There is a nothing - not one thing - on the football side of our football club to recommend his tenure. The only mitigation is the finance angle. However the delay in release of the club accounts puts even that into doubt. At this point we only have the word of a proven liar to go on. Hardly the sort of things that breeds confidence. So what is there to point to that would lead people to vote for him?

I can’t wait to see the accounts for this year and last to answer some of the questions that are outstanding. Lost count of the amount of times we were told there was another court case to settle or another instalment for Oviedo etc. Wouldn’t surprise me if this all turned out to be bollocks too.

I believe he’s said in interviews that they got operating costs down to around £15m and turnover is around £20m. In his tenure we’ve also brought in around £20m in transfer fees and had £15m in parachute payments (should be £40m obviously) and still needed to take out £20m in loans. I can’t wait to get GOMs take on it.

I'm hoping that Swiss Ramble account on twitter does a piece on them too so we can get a genuinely independent view on them.

Like I’ve said on numerous occasions, I didn’t know about the statement until it came out, so it’s hard to take responsibility for something I didn’t know about.
I’ve also said I didn’t agree with the wording of the statement.

And I doubt the statement is the reason behind your bitterness towards the RAWA. I recall you having jibes towards them from the very beginning.
You even went as far as to derail a charity appeal thread the other month, to accuse them of keeping the money for themselves. Thankfully you were called out for being a tit by everyone else on it.

I know we know each other, and after our chat on the bus I DO understand that the RAWA and the other groups find anger in CM's words.
HOWEVER we all make mistakes, and I know CM wishes he could turn the clock back. I also know he loves this club as season 2 proves.
So the big question is can we move on in more harmony
I also now know you were not aware of the statement, it was a shame you left Gatsbys before he came in we could have had a clear the air chat, it might have been worthwhile.
Anyhow onward and upward and I hope we move forward together.

I hope you don’t mean together with Charlie mate. He might love the club for his shares, but he has no real affiliation like a fan. Hopefully we can move on without them, as SD promised he was “fully committed to selling”. By the way, what has happened to Sartori, Charlie says he was going to show more and nowt else

i think season 2 showed he's a bit of an arsehole

Season 2 showed exactly what Charlie loves, and it wasn't the club.

If you think its merely a matter of ‘love’ for the club, you’re hopelessly naive. This is a question of competence. Donald and Methven have demonstrated time and again that they have nowhere near enough intelligence and vision to get us going in the right direction. In fact they’ve made us worse - from a point that most Safc fans regarded as our lowest ebb. They’ve failed miserably and no amount of cuddles from the fanbase will make them make better decisions. If we want to move forward as a club they need to leave. It’s as simple as that.
