New Birmingham Stadium - 60k+

When I saw the images, I assumed those chimneys were already there on some disused site and were being incorporated into the design, which would be pretty cool.

To build 6 new defunct giant chimneys is a bit weird though 😂

I thought they might be for the staircases

I thought the same with West Ham tbf

West Ham have a far bigger fanbase than Birmingham City.
least they can sponge off the London tourist market as long as they're in the Premier League, who the fucks touristing in Birmingham

If they're Yank tourist fans then one hour on a train from London is nothing to them.
Their catchment area is vastly reduced due to Villa, Wolves, West Brom etc...

Still think Brums ceiling is around the 40k mark...if they were in our position for example.

I think they had around 50k mind in the Auto Windscreens Shield final against Carlisle Utd in 1995 at the old wembley. Mostly daytrippers like.
Teesside and the potteries are about the same size but they have vale to compete with that said there’s a fair few Sunderland fans in the north tees area fairly comparable really. I think Burnley are easily the best supported club in the uk in terms of population and catchment to crowds mind

Got mates from Burnley and most people there seem to support Burnley. Unlike Blackburn and Preston which are rammed full of Man City, Liverpool, Utd and Chelsea fans.

Mags annoyed that it’s another stadium with a bigger capacity than their stadium. Honestly all they are arsed about is looking like a massive club. Proper tin pot.

The funny thing is; when you speak to mags that actually go to games, none of them want to move from SJP.

I’ve heard a few say that could do with a few thousand extra seats but it’s the plastic element that are in the biggest sulk about the new stadium not being announced.

Their need for a new stadium is being driven by (i) the obsession they are a big club (ii) they are wrongly assuming that an increased capacity will mean more SCs.

Lifts, fire exits, stair cases, escalators, kitchen ducting, toilet ducting, A/C ducting, electrical risers, water risers etc etc. it also looks like there’s front of roof supports tied into the very top of the Chimneys.

Time to extend the SOL me thinks. Can’t have clubs that have been in the second tier more than the first (Birmingham and Leeds) having a bigger ground than us.

I've said for a while if they mess up this new stadium it could be the final nail in the coffin for the proper Newcastle fans.

If they end up with a soulless bowl somewhere like Woolsington or elsewhere on the outskirts of Newcastle, with increased tourists, increased match day prices etc I think it'll kill off their more traditional fan base.

Birminghams new stadium looks tidy on the inside but laughable on the outside! I am all for the heritage factor but far too many of the chimneys. Maybe a few on the main entrance similar too the original Wembley or one separate in the grounds would have been sufficient!
Mind the owners seem to have big ambitions!

Ready by the 2030/31 season. That's a lot of time for them to potentially end up back in League One. Can't deny it would be funny as fuck to see them in League 1 with 10k fans in a 60k seater stadium.

It's gonna end up being like Darlington with the Reynolds Arena isn't it.
Passed there yesterday, rusted to fuck with a ***** fair in the car park, shame.
