what is all the fuss about 2nd teams getting promoted or relegated?

the 2nd team goes in the same league as the first team ie 1sts in prem then the 2nds in prem 2nd div.

logistically your 1st and 2nds couldnt play in seperate leagues.

this is how the pyramid system works.

shields 1sts in prem have been relegated and so that means the 2nds are also relegated.

whitburn 1sts go into prem and so does the 2nd team in the 2nd team league.

Harmy you are most certainly wrong.

The 2nd team does not get promoted because the 1st team win their league. The winners of the Second XI Division B gets promoted into Second XI Division A (Sacriston 2nd XI) and the bottom team in the Second XI Division A get relegated into Second XI Division B (Gateshead Fell 2nd XI).

As the winners of Third XI Division B gets promoted into Third XI Division A (Washington 3rd XI) and the bottom team in the Third XI Division A get relegated into Third XI Division B (Gateshead Fell 3rd XI).

Simple.

I bet the fixture sec doesn't think it is so simple. What a nightmare he'll have next season sorting all that out.

just out of interest can anyone confirm that after next season promotion and relegation from DCL upwards into NEPL is happening but also downwards into the NEDL?? Be interesting to see which teams from the NEDL would be interested in moving upwards and also which teams will come down, if it happens.

According to the NEDCL league committee having been a part of the consultation process by Durham CB, they are part of the full pyramid which comes into effect in 2015. There is a piece in the NEDCL league handbook this year from the Chairman regarding being a feeder league into the new DCL.

I don't know fully what that will look like but fro a personal perspective I think it should be madatory promotion to DCL from NEDCL and relegation from DCL to NEDCL regardless of who it is. That is the only way the pyramid will work top to bottom.

I think I speak for all at our club that we want to look to go as far as possible both on and off the field as a club, so as part of our development plan one of the main objectives is to look to get into DCL at some point. With 3 full senior teams turning out every week, a midweek social team and now the junior team (which we have managed to start also this season), I think from my experience the club is in a lot stronger position than some of those in the DCL. With continued development planned off the pitch on the ground, the good infrasturcture of the commitee and club we are hoping to develop as far as possible.

Hopefully there are like minded clubs in the NEDCL as it will make the league far more competitive and also the DCL Div 2 will be more competitive with teams trying to avoid relegation...

It really isn't that difficult. It has worked in the NTSL for years now without any trouble.

Having played second team in the NTSL second division (B2) with our first team playing in the opposite first team division one (A1) this season I can assure you it works fine, the NTSL usually pair the teams where possible (if in the same divisions first) then fill in the blanks. The fixtures are usually the last ones to be published pre season I assume for that reason.

Good post Greig glad to hear all is progressing well for you, Ed, Tom et al at Littletown, i'm sure within a couple of seasons you will be up in the DCL no problem.

We're hoping so. As far as we're concerned theres nothing wrong with wanting to progress and be as good a club as we can be. Had a cracking first season and now just need to build on it and push on!!
