NEPL 2022

Big game tomorrow as Washington visit Crook, washing win that and they will be looking ok but Crook will be in deep trouble. Crook win and Washington are pulled right back into the mix after their recent improvement.
Is there any relegation this season? As both likely winners of DNECL and Tyneside senior league dont have the credentials to enter the premier league.

Was there not controversy when Bournmoor won the league? Something to do with promising the league they’d have the required number of teams ( 2s,3s etc) which they didn’t have that season.

Teams who finish 2nd can go into a play-off if both make the criteria. If only 1, then they will get automatic promotion

Saw Tynedale were having a members meeting to discuss whether they want to consider promotion.

It's a big step up but surely teams want to play they best around

Interesting, did Philly end up finishing 2nd and going up one year?
Philli and Lanchester both finished 2nd in their respective leagues. First place teams did not meet the criteria to get promoted.
NEPL had 2 places so both teams went up without a playoff.
both in the squad. mckinney captain. makes you wonder how an england u19 captain cannot get a game for durham
Durham seem to have a number of batters who can play at 1st team level. We are short of bowlers at this time.
You want Bushnell, Doneathy and Mckinney in the side.
Which 3 batters do you leave out ?

Well straight away I'd be dropping Maddinson for the next two games. Some could argue about Dickson if away to Somerset then what value is their playing him in the One Day Cup for the next two games? As for the red ball game I'd be selecting Bushnell ahead of Maddinson but at present it's difficult to even guess who is available for when that starts. My team for Sunday and Tuesday would be. Clark, Bushnell, Borthwick, Dickson, Coughlin, Doneathy, Trevaskis, Mackintosh, Macalindon, Rushworth, Gibson. I'd rotate Macaldinon/Gibson with Killeen for one of the games just to make sure they're all getting some sort of game time. Also have to consider giving Drissell game time also so possible rotation with Trevaskis for the sake of game time.

It depends. You’re joining a league where you have to throw a degree of cash around to not get thrashed (there might be the odd exception), which might mean replacing club men with ‘guns for hire’.

Not a straightforward call for smaller clubs.

Tynedale would be fine in nepl 2 from the limited stuff I’ve seen of them

Lots of good youngsters come through there as well - a couple have played minor counties for Northumberland already. I’m sure Tom Can’t would be able to attract a couple more across to play with them.

They have an 18 year old, Oli Fletcher, who scores a lot of runs for them but I understand he is also contracted with Newcastle Falcons so he may no longer have the same availability if Rugby takes over.

So you would not pick Mckinney ?

Not at the moment he's away with England this week and next week (so can't play for Durham) but given his pedigree/performances for Hetton it seems confusing the club don't think he's ready and/or good enough but England do where he did well this week . When's he's back get him involved. Should have seen the likes of him in the T20. I recall earlier in the season he hit a big score Vs Surrey 2nd xi so the lad clearly has talent. I suspect he will be involved in the 2nd team games in September one of which is at the Riverside

He has played 2nd XI most of this year and has already scored a 2nd team ton iirc. I would think even though it is international age group cricket, I would expect first-class cricket to take priority over the u19 stuff should he be picked to be involved once the red ball stuff comes back.
